I have a stones at 750, 1000, and 6000. I sharpie the edges and get all the sharpie off at 750, and then work through 1000/6000 until the edge is shiny. They cut paper but do not cut hair well which tells me it need to be sharper.Sandpaper...start at 80 go up 800
I found a montec on an arrow out in the woods....try as I might I could never get it slicky sharp no matter what I tried....
It might just be me.....I had similar with the NAP razor. They get pretty sharp...on a scale of 1-10 I'd say 5-6 but I could never get them into the same slick slippy sharp as a 2 blade. Single bevels are relatively easy to get 9-10 after the initial sharpening and getting the bevel set to my fixture. I have some double bevel broadheads and they get pretty sharp too but they sit in the tackle box or I give singles away to people. I just prefer to use the single bevels...that’s depressing, I’ve been debating changing out broadheads. I’ve shot two deer with them, one through the heart dropped within 30 yards, the a Second a double lung (towards the back of the lungs and sliced the liver). I didn’t stop the deer and she stepped as I shot. The track job was about 150 yards. Both left very little blood trail seem with clean pass throughs.
i have a set of day six heads I may try but I need to buy replacement blades since they’re a pain to sharpen.
This is what I use with my Montecs. For you sharpening gurus, I’ve been working on my 100 grain montecs, I’d like to get them sharper. They can cut through paper but not as cleanly as I’d like, any tips on sharpening them?

Edit: I should also mention that I find the Montec CS sharpen better than the stainless.
