@Camelcluch - what’s the temperature range for the day?
It's done that two years in a row, but I hunted one of those 75 degree days and saw 9 different bucks, several multiple times and only had a lull of deer movement from 1130 to 1230. I was dang near IN the bedding area with a just off wind keeping my scent out of it. Granted this is private and I manage the hunting pressure as best I can.I hunted NE OK 11/12 - 11/16. First day was great, then the weather heated up to 75 and seemed to slow the activity.
Different from all the previous year's that I hunted in November.
Over the last week, buddies in NE OK are now sharing their buck harvest photos with me :>)
Next year...
Those can be good temperatures. Good luck! Post rut. Focus on bedding in morning and food sources in the evening.18* in the morning and 55* at about 3pm.
Yep I remember coming in last year on a Friday, just as it cooled down to a high of 40's on Saturday. It's done that two years in a row, but I hunted one of those 75 degree days and saw 9 different bucks, several multiple times and only had a lull of deer movement from 1130 to 1230. Last year I hunted a post frontal day 40 degrees and 15-20 MPH NW winds After 5 days of 80° Temps. Saw an explosion of deer activity and killed a nice 8 with my recurve.
You can pee in the scrape. You can pee in the ground. You can pee out of the tree. Let it rip! Not a good idea to walk on the trail though. So let me get this straight. I can pee in the scrape but can’t walk on the trail. You also can’t pee out of the tree? Hummm, whitetail would be cooler if they bugled.
Quick edit: I forgot that you can’t breath or blink because whitetail are descendants from Predator and they sense all this.
I’m in for the win!!
Don't dismiss those little ones this time of the year. If they've got enough weight on um they'll come into estrous this week or next.Mid day update. Saw a few does between 10 and noon. All small first year does. Mom either is doing things kids can’t see or she got caught slipping in the early seasons. I hope to bring better news.View attachment 95952View attachment 95953
TOADOkay, I think I was able to hunt 9 days total. Not bad as I tend to use all my hunting time in September. My wife puts up with me being gone about 25 days for elk hunting. I struck out but learned a lot. I was chasing one deer but would have taken any decent buck. I did meet a farmer and he invited me to come out in the spring to do some shed hunting. I’ll try again next year draw pendant.
