I hear ya.

I just read that your hang on was uncomfortable, and that you imagined the same issue with a saddle. If you sold a lockon and a saddle, you're probably approaching hybrid money.

i used my loc-on for MD rifle opener. hung pretty easy and was stable but the seat wasnt my favorite. its uncomfortable in a different kinda way than a lone wolf seat. kinda like a saddle i guess...you gotta move around and try different positions til you find what causes the least amount of pinch. Any older hunters have a tip? That front bar with the padding was pushing into my thighs.
Stand up :p

I had a stand with a seat like the windwalker. I had to throw a light jacket in the "trough" and that relieved the pressure from the seat bar.

I was looking at pictures of the Windwalker today and wondering if you could drill new holes and lower the front seat support bar.

Something to this effect...

Cheaper than a tank of gas!

That is tempting at that price and weight.
Was kinda sorta serious with my previous reply. I never did figure out a way to make that seat comfortable for long sits back in the day when I had one. It worked fine for sitting down for a few minutes for a break though. Seriously considering this or a helo. The windwalker would still need to be modded some and where the helo wouldnt.

Thats a good idea. I dont have the windwalker yet i have the "Mag III" so i have enough room to stand with the seat still out. MAybe ill just toss one of those hot shot circle pillow pad things in there. I like the plastic platform with carpet on top it. My tozies are finally not frozen standing on bare metal. its definitely not the lightest stand but still portable if i need it to be and its perffect for leaving up on my lease.

For those of you looking for the Windwalker, the following email response image is from Mark from Treehopper, apparently they acquired Loc-on.

Really refreshing to see reasonable prices in today's market too.

Does anyone have one of the fleece back packs mentioned in the email?

@Vtbow swears by it I believe
Yup, sure do. I have the original pack and stand. Its a stellar setup and carries like nothing. Deploying the pack from the bag to hang is slick and easy....no moving things around on a hanger...hang back, stand slides out bottom, hand stand. done....

I was unaware that the stand actually goes in the pack, I’m not sure exactly how it all works. It would be nice if one of the gear review people made a video on it. I’m afraid the lack of leveling capability on that stand would be a deal breaker for me.

Leveling is way over rated in my opinion(those a "nice" feature) I"ve been using the windwalker for 10+years and there hasn't been a tree I wanted to hunt I havent been able to hand it in.

The backpack is pretty simple...the stand goes in it from the bottom. two nice front pockets, compression straps. Some pics of several I have owned...Depending on the year, some have 2 compression straps on the top, some have one...some have simple waist belt, some dont.

What’s the attachment method for these new ones. I know back in the day some were chain and some were some sort of nylon whoopie sling thing

So there are no teeth to grab the tree. When you enter and leave the stand is it rock solid? You haven't had any issues with side slipping?

Just curious. (Actually really wish I hadn't found this thread because I was committed to not buying any more gear, but now I need to attend the support group meeting tonight.)

It’s a webbing strap with the roller seat belt type fastener that you feed through. Not sure if the technical name. It’s easy to swap the strap out.
