No perfect. Need to treat them before I take them out in the woods. They look so nice new, I could wear them to the office if I still worked!!!
Thanks.
I just got mine tonight, and I'm thinking someone had tried them and returned them. They're not beat up, but definitely some wear that I wouldn't expect on a premium boot...definitely not looking brand spanking new like the Hoffman's did. I'll call Meindl tomorrow about it.
I guess I'll give a first impression, for what little that's worth, of these compared to the Hoffman Insulated Explorer 400s, in case anyone in the future might be looking into these boots.
1. Meindl Comfort Fit 400 feel warmer than the Hoffman 400s
2. Meindl Comfort Fit 400 are a much less stiff boot
3. Meindl Comfort Fit 400 have a wider heel
4. Hoffman Insulated Explorer have a more precise build
(5.) Meindl Comfort Fit 400 have a footbed with a longer arch, which was more comfortable (to me)
(5a) Hoffman's left boot was perfect for my left foot, the arch was too short for my right foot.
Generally:
The Hoffman boots had a bit of a "ski-boot stiffness" underfoot but the uppers flexed naturally and significant forward rocker encourages forward motion. Despite the stiffness, they felt more plush than the Meindl.
The Meindl are a boot you can tell what to do. The flex enables that, but also allows pressure on the foot to shift some, making them a bit more fit specific imo. In my case the fit is decent. I ended up using their printable brannock form to comform sizing, and it was helpful.
