I'd love to learn about any new or original techniques you are using! Gotta video of yr climb?no it doesn't look hard. looks like the same thing I'm doing, only slower (and a little nosier cause he's not unhooking on that white oak bark, i would each move up on that tree). also when I stop I don't have to set a platform, cause I'm standing on it already. granted, I'm talking about an EWO UP 1 stick (the wings it has are important, I can unhook and squeeze my knees and still have 2 hands off tree), not one you got to carry a separate platform with. I'd 2tc if I was carrying a separate platform or before I'd use modified stick. he's climbing the same way I am but he is limited in ways (small ways) that I am not, and that make difference. the only way that saves weight is with ROS. I hunted for years off them. don't like them cause they cost me a deer on a spin out. I don't 1 stick like people advocate on forum, cause I can climb how ever I please. I use a mini wire gated carabiner on rappel/tether that allows me to unhook quick and it doesn't slide down/ need tether keeper. Also I can sit down on my 1 stick, which I do a lot. so in my eyes, what he's doing is a downgrade from what I'm doing, even though it's basically the same thing.. and I come down a whole lot faster than that
For me all roads lead to fixed SRT with an ascender. I'm only 1-sticking, drilling, or using tree sticks the first time into trees that I'm probably never going to hunt again OR putting a fixed rope or paracord loops into. If I like a spot enough to come back it gets paracord; if I really like a spot it gets a fixed 20 foot 8mm rope for that season.Im already climbing branches.the other tether is just another Tool in the shed they say.all roads lead to 2tc.until they levitate like kyler.
Not me . I like my one stick and I also like my sticks and platform . I use what I feel like using. I'm older than most saddle hunters and been doing it longer than most also.If you are comenting on hear as a 1 sticker you have to realize that you are saying the same thing to a 2t.climber that three stickers said to 1 stickers before it was a fad......i just do what every one els has been doing cuzz its to hard to change.but now you are 1 sticking and think they sound silly.next you figyer out 2tc. And ditch the stick.duh...not trying to be rude.im just saying how it is.im not a rolemodel or a saint.and i dont get payed to sound sweet.take it for what it is.but most 1 stickers realy want to 2tc.and its easy.
I like tar string. Lighter and cheaperFor me all roads lead to fixed SRT with an ascender. Every method is a different tool and every tree is a different problem. Until we learn to levitate like kyler.

Theres a stick and platform right there for private land. Not me . I like my one stick and I also like my sticks and platform . I use what I feel like using. I'm older than most saddle hunters and been doing it longer than most also.
I've seen a lot of different things since I started using a saddle and what ever system you like is up to each person.
