Is this normal?

I believe that is where the 2 buries meet, and the "fray" is just a bury end coming through. I would confirm with Tethrd, but I think that is normal and is no issue. The bury fray can be simply pushed back into the hollow core.

Whew. Good. I did email them but this gives me some comfort.

First time up the tree!

I’m just using what it came with.

But.... Am I wrong? Does that not appear defective?

Thats the most disturbing thing.

ha. Ok. School me up. I would be ok with replacing it. I will check into rope and appropriate knots, unless you have some recommendations?

Not defective at all. Just the bury or cut end of the rope poking through. Look up g2's video on how to make a locked brummel. Having an understanding of what's going on will give you confidence it's not a problem

Like has been said, that fray is the end of the bury. And the thin portion of the bridge is the small section where there is no bury from the bridge loops. It should not be an issue. I wouldn't view it as defective, but you can certainly wait to hear from Tethrd to give you peace of mind.

Awesome. Thanks all. Obviously I’m very new. Been a ground pounder my whole life and found myself missing out on opportunities without an aerial option. Found Tethrd, found this forum and I’m absorbing as much as I can.

I appreciate all the help, very much.

Aside from this concern I had, my first trip up the tree was very easy. Surprisingly easy. Much more comfortable than sitting on the cold ground that’s for sure.

Glad to have ya! Don’t hesitate to ask questions good crew here.

I figured I’d update this thread. I heard back from Tethrd first thing today and they confirmed what may said here and provided me with a couple steps to clean it up. So for anyone Googling and hits this thread, nothing to worry about.
