It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

Sold my soul, and joining the JX3 train. It should be here Tuesday.

Super excited as my main issue with saddle hunting (my cruzr especially) wasnt the hip pinch, but pressure on either my feet or the knees. I'm really hoping it will help allow me to be more still while sitting and hopefully be more successful.

I am a year away from 60, with a bad back. I don’t do it often, but during the rut I can do a dark to dark sit in my JX 3 Hybrid. I could not even consider this in any other soft saddle.

I really like the JX-3 carabiners (black), have no concern with their strength, and their closure mechanism is smooth/secure. Not sure who the manufacturer is. I generally run a larger/more substantial carabiner up top.

JX-3 ropes are good (though 11mm is pretty thick) but I was able to sell mine in the classified section since I already had plenty of my own. I do like the stopper ball they put on it.

Bridge is pretty lengthy and does get in the way when you’re switching between strong and weak side shots, but I’m going to try slimming down the profile by wrapping it with webbing and a buckle. JX-3 sells a short bridge on their website that should have been made an option instead of having to drop another $30-$40. If you have a bridge you like, stick with that.

The long bridge and tether are an important part of the JX3 versatility
I set my tether as high as I can reach, to help me maneuver around the tree with a ring of steps.
Setting the tether high lets you easily move around the tree without needing to shoot "weak side".
I have never had to shoot over the tether using the ring of steps.

OK, first impressions.

The comfort is incredible, once settled in. I'm expecting a little fiddle factor until I figure it out better. The adjustment from a soft saddle to the jx3 was less then expected. I threw it on and sat for about half hour at just above ground level and was ready to go to heights.

It is super important to make sure it's level both left to right and front back. If it's unlevel it tend to want to swing.

I think I understand the ROS for this, it'd be nice to have foot rests on the sides of the tree.

It is slightly unsettling to sit back and have the bottom swing forward, but trust in gear is earned, so I'll get used to it.

I was actually fairly surprised with the size of it, I'm 5'9" and it goes from almost level to shoulders to my knees. Nothing isn't supported fully.

Anyone using just the top of their stick with any success?

You could use just the top step, but it is much more comfortable to have your feet at 3:00 & 9:00 for long sits.
With the ring of steps, you can eliminate one step, keeping three and use the top of your stick as the fourth step.

Thats what i do with my JX3. One stick and ROS is the way to go IMO

I have used a hawk helium with 6step
Mod to give it a top platform. With a rope/cleat mod, it was not good for side pressure. It moved and popped too much. I got a ros to tighten it down then thought that is just more gear and more work and I really didnt like one sticking for the fatal flaw of being loud.

Hate to admit it since I’ve been pretty impressed with my PAC Seat (just setting up and practicing),but the more I shoot out of my Hybrid from the ground and hooked up to a tree at ground level, the more I’m tempted to sell the PAC Seat.
Carrying the Hybrid, I wouldn’t be ground only and can get in a tree if needed.
I’m my opinion, even on the ground, the hybrid is as comfortable.

I think the hybrid is going to catch on more and more. Yes it’s a small weight penalty but the comfort is amazing. When you get done hunting you feel great, you don’t feel like someone beat you with a stick

Im planning to use it at ground level connected to tree. Ditch all the ropes, knots, 3d printed gidgets, ascenders, rappel rope, pull lines, climbing methods. Just play the wind a freakin hunt.

The way it carries weight makes the extra weight where it’s not even noticeable.

BBK22 saves 5%. Getting close to pulling the trigger on one. Gotta hock a few more things.

Do it. I sold the first one I had to a buddy and got the new one I ordered today.
They shipped it out the day after I ordered it.
Ended up buying the short bridge to try out and the straps for meat hauling.
I didn’t really notice anything different other than the buckle on the leg straps and I thought it was a nice upgrade.
