It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

Thanks for the info everyone, helps out for sure.

The seat measurements along with the molle frame I have will give me a very good idea of its overall size. My main concern is the depth of the seat. I’m on the other end of the spectrum at 5’7” 160. My longtime nickname is Kidd and my wife holds humorously dear our first grade class photo. We’re sitting in those small kid chairs and my feet are the only ones not touching the floor. I keep telling her it’s not that funny!!

I noticed the Brewers logo, if your near Milwaukee your welcome to try mine out. I live about 30min north of Milwaukee.

I don’t know that it is fair to say that you won’t be getting a hybrid before next season if you haven’t ordered yet.

What is fair to say is don’t depend on it - like anything else. Don’t sell your only method of sitting in a tree until you have another in hand. Good common sense!

Again, can we please keep this thread to technical questions and reviews of the hybrid, and leave availability and shipping questions to other threads or for john directly? Pretty Pleasseeee?

I was referring the ground hunting chair. When will that be available?

I was messing around with my Hybrid and discovered that the zippered saddle bags that are on my Summit Viper fit nicely on the Hybrid. There are three attachment points on the Hybrid seat that marry up perfectly with the three snaps on the Summit bags. The more time I spend with this JX 3 the more possibilities I’m finding.4930EED0-BAEA-4FE7-A32F-DBE9ECA07551.jpeg

Only bad thing I can say so far is that it's not in my posession yet lol. Really looking forward to messing around with it in the back yard sometime soon.

Contact John if you have been on the list for at least 6 weeks. I did that and the next day he sent me an order link. Should have mine in a week or so I hope.

Folks,

Please.... please... please - please keep this thread to technical details and questions about the hybrid.

Please don’t post with questions about delivery, pricing, etc. It’s clogging up a thread with some really good information.

Please.

Also - please?

And I'm in the game! From a very short session at ground level I love this thing (mosquitoes cut my time short). The one thing I may change is the prusik on the tether to a ropeman 1. With my heavier weight the stock prusik is a little hard to move after it's sinched in if I were to want to make a height change. I definitely need to lose some weight, there is a touch of pinching from the straps that help form the bridge in my ribcage area, but I need to lose weight anyway before i start setting up at hunting heights lol. Even with the slight pinch i am really liking this stand and can't wait to get more familiar with it.

And this pinch might just be from my very first time ever using it straight out of the box with minimal changes.

I haven’t read through this whole thread, so apologies if this has already been covered, but is the title of this thread a reference to a terrible late 90s pop song?

Small update for the bigger guys.

After getting some more seat time I found that I had the waist buckle on the outside of the pieces that make up the bridge. This was causing the bridge and recliner adjusters to pinch in on my rib area. I haven't tried sitting in the JX3 with my coat, bibs, vest, etc, but I feel like there is enough room for this 3XL guy to comfortably hunt. Still trying to lose weight regardless, so this thing is just gonna get even more comfortable. The JX3 is also approved by my daughter as a make shift swing lol.

Great pic! So what is the blue thing called that has replaced your Prussik and what does it cost? I would like to ditch the prussik and do something similar.

That’s a ropeman1. They are awesome for what we use them for.

Ropeman 1 like Eric said. Whether or not if it's any stronger than the prusik the JX3 came with, I feel like it is.

The max rating for the Ropeman 1 is 15kn. The ABS of most cord used for prusik's is in the 8000lb range. The two devices will fail with very similar amounts of force applied (for our purposes).

However, these two numbers have very little to do with each other because the failure mechanisms of both devices are quite different.

I personally prefer a friction hitch over a ropeman for use on a tether. I'm not against others using a ropeman, I just prefer to avoid the type of failure risk associated with the ropeman, as small as it may be.

It's just in my head that the metal should be stronger than the thinner rope is all. I may throw the prusik back on just to save on the possibility of extra noise from the ropeman when walking in and what not.

Thanks for the info.

The ropeman will cut the rope sheath way before the 15kn rating. There are some pretty good threads on the subject. I trust the ropeman and use it but do the research and decide for yourself.

Well @kyler1945 I spent a couple hours mowing the roads on the south side of my lease this afternoon. This side of the road got a second thinning last August. Man I can’t believe how much this place has grown up. There will be 50 acres for f bedding by the time season gets here.

Oh yeah also had a box from John when I got home this afternoon. Got to hang it for about 30 minutes this evening. I haven’t even adjusted anything. If this is going to be a keeper I’ve got to make it work without a backpack.
I’m definitely going to have to adjust a few things. But it was super comfy straight out of the box.
