I started taking bow hunting serious about 2 seasons ago. I had always been the guy who picked up my bow a week or two before the season and did the ol pie plate at 30yds and called it good. Looking back now I can’t believe I went into the woods to launch missiles at animals thinking that was acceptable.

I started with Dudleys school of nock and started practicing at least 3 times a week more whenever family and work permitted. I wanted to get confident in my own abilities not some magic bow or release. Lately I’ve been doing the 10yard card challenge and pushing myself till I got through the cards. And last week this happened

WHAT A FLUKE! I couldn’t believe it. The arrow is buried 6 inches dead center into the other. 2 seasons ago I would’ve been happy just hitting the card. Either I need to go buy a lottery ticket or all this work is starting to pay off because it happened again today!

I wasn’t going to post this but I thought if anyone is grinding away to be more efficient in the woods the works pays off! I hope if you’re trying to get better at anything this off-season maybe this will help you keep grinding!

It is always good to become more skilled with your craft and that usually takes practice, which means one needs to find the time - congratulations!

Just remember, you are becoming a much better shooter..... when the moment of truth comes hope you can control the nerves and go through the shot process you established with hours of practice and become a better hunter! Good Luck!

I’m with you man. I shoot as often as I can, 3-5 times a week. Lately I’ve been doing about 10 jumping jacks or high knee run in place or whatever to get the ol heart a pumping, not out of breath, but an elevated heart rate just like when mr big rack walks in front of me.

You go 10yds from the target and start with an ace and work your way through the cards. Say you’re shooting hearts. You pick a heart on the card and shoot 3 arrows if you hit another heart you go back to the ace. You work your way to 10 and start with the ace

Once you consistently beat that, then you start picking a symbol (heart, spade etc...) and you hit each one on a card and clear each card before moving on miss and the card is dead

At ten yards i would not shoot at the same spot with more than one arrow. Or at 20. A few Robinhoods are neat, but that gets expensive eventually.

I
That's cool, just trying to save you some money. Groups are neat, but will get expensive.
im there with ya... I will shoot at the same spot at 20 every now and then but I wouldn’t do it at 10.... but also...bully to the OP.... glad you’re having fun dialing in your shot... keep at it!

Well done man!

I definitely remember those first couple Robinhoods i hope all the commitment to getting better pays dividends for ya next season.
