I have two toddlers so I never seem to have the time to dial in my system fully, but I’m ‘decent’ with my JX3 or Recon. For a couple seasons I have a mental competition with myself to not have a Summit equipped buddy texting me way before I’m set up, or waiting for me on the trail after our hunt. Alas, he’s usually faster and wrangles less ropes. And in our group of friends the fellas that park their butts in Summits, sometimes at the same spot for six straight hunts, don’t do too bad! Overall I prefer saddle setups, but do think the advantage over hang ons or climbers is slightly overblown, especially in tall straight timber territory. Take your pick of climbing method you prefer, but our best tools continue to be critical thinking, picking the right section of woods, and proficiency with chosen weapon. Edit: Oh, and TIME in the woods.
Edit: some of last seasons posts convinced me to work more from the ground as well, and Im pretty much convinced a commitment to that might even increase success rate vs any other method.
