They are great . I have 4 of them. Won't leave home without them.these Ropeman must be good products. Many recommendations for them here.
Okay, I'm convinced that I should get a couple Ropeman1 for my new Kestrel.
I asked in another thread, but I'll also ask here...
Where is the best place to buy one? Are there different versions of Rope Man1?
I realize Rope Man 2 aren't really recommended.
Does the best choice of where to buy just come down to shipping cost...ie, does the total cost usually even out...pay less for the product but they screw you on shipping?

ordered 2 tonight. thanks for the inputI went through the exact same thing a few weeks ago with the blakes hitch and the kestrel. I ordered two ropeman 1's, one for linesman belt, 1 for tether. It is the best thing you can do. One hand adjustment that is consistent is so much safer and reliable than a blakes hitch that sticks sometimes and requires 2 hands. I have used a prussic in other applications and I thought it slid better than the blakes hitch. I think the kind of rope and the diameters affect the blakes hitch and prussic user friendliness.
Get some Ropeman 1's and dont look back!
Tell me about it. i never thought to ask prior to using how long the bridge should be. 24" to 28" is what I am readingThat Kestel bridge is too long for most people!
I agrer that is the best place that I can see to buy them. As far as colors go orange or blue I don't think it matters so buy the cheapest oneRight now Amazon has Ropeman1 orange color for $34.95 with free shipping & blue color for $44.95 with free shipping

I was hanging way too low with the Kestrel bridge and I wanted to lighten things up, so I picked up a 24 inch climbing sling from REI , girth hitched it to one side of kestrel and biner on the other. Much less bulk. I have not sat very long with it yet, but no problem so far...Tell me about it. i never thought to ask prior to using how long the bridge should be. 24" to 28" is what I am reading
I have used the carabiners that came with the Kestrel with no problem . So I would stick with them for now until you see if you like them.Just thought of something. i bought 2 of the Ropeman 1 line ascenders. waiting for them to arrive. Do I also need to add a carabiner to my purchase list? I do not have the saddle here so I am trying to remember how it all hooks up. Not sure if it is all there and I am simply replacing the Blakes hitch knot with the Ropeman...and the carabiner is already on the line??? Crap. Need to go home and break it all out again.
