Klemz vs versa button

You have to know Daniel to understand how he thinks, the boy can't count to 12 so let's help him out with a little show and tell...

This is a "Klemz" style platform it uses the original LW Assault seat as the platform

This is a LW Versa Button. Its only purpose is to mount the straps and give you a means to attached the platform to the tree.

The "Klemz" platform cams to the tree by first attaching the platform to the tree and raising the platform like this...

And while placing your foot on top of the post with a little weight then place your other foot on the platform lowering it and thus cam locking it to the tree. Once in the down position it is solid!

You can do a search to see the XOP style platform or maybe someone will come along and post some Pic's...

Could you share the specs....?
That was my original. See post #1 in this 200+ post thread.

It's currently in pieces as I'm upgrading to a cam cleats. It will be ounces heavier with the cam cleat but it's worth the weight IMHO.

Which cam cleat and what type of rope are you going with? It seams like all your gear is the crème de la crème. Haha.

how easy would it be to disengage a cam cleat with your foot though while trying to push/lean and not paying attention

Very hard. Like a stick you add a half hitch

Lol. It is definitely an evolution from a tinkering mind.

I'm leaning toward the Ronstan Mediums.

See the cam cleat thread as well

yeah for some reason I was picturing a new tree bracket I hadn't heard of

cam cleat will probably be easier to hang the klemz with less noise. Using the lw /versa button is always a little goofy....guess since you cant hold the post with your chin like a stick

Here is one I did with a cleat. I like it a lot! It added about $40 to the cost of the stick with the amsteel and cleat, but to me it was worth it.

I made sure I had enough rope to go around the tree twice.

Erine how is your rope attached to the post? Is it by a stopper type knot in the inside and then just threaded through the post?

Yep, I drilled a hole for the rope, then I drilled a slightly larger hole on the other side. That way I could run a slightly larger bit to the back of the rope hole to debur/chamfer the inside edge of the route hole to minimize sharp edges inside the tube.

Then I threaded the rope in the hole, tied a good knot and then pulled it back through.

Well you answer my next question concerning sharp edges of the hole. I was thinking maybe a press fit bushing...

On the sticks I'm fooling around with I did something similar. I am trying the 5.5mm bluewater titan for sticks with a cam cleat. I got some 1/4" nylon bushings that I put on both sides of the stick, that should protect the rope.

Lol I really like the titan rope. That is what I use for a rappel rope. Some might not be comfortable with that, but it works for me.

I know you do, that's where I heard about it! :D I like it too. I am working on an aider out of it and I plan on using it on the sticks with a cam cleat. It should be more than sufficient for that.
