I going to switch from my 11mm lines man rope down to either 8, 9mm for next season. My question is why does it seem that most seem to prefer the Kong Duck over the CT Roll N Lock? Seem to me that the CT Roll N Rock is much more versatile with a higher weight rating. Is it simply a matter of price? Pretty cool to be able to use it as hoist as well if you needed to.

I use the CT roll n lock with oplux lines, I thought I had read that it was the better choice for the oplux but I could be mistaken. Have no experience with the Kong duck but have had no issues with the roll n lock.

My Kong duck has been very reliable for me. The CT rool n lock is a cool concept, but I don't see a benefit of that for my setup currently.

Here's an older thread on the topic that may have some useful insights

Thanks man , that's exactly what I was looking for. I tried searching for this thread but was unable to find it. Appreciate your help.

I have the both and they both work fine. The CT packs ever so slightly more compact, so I generally use them over the ducks. (I also got them first so it's likely more just routine than anything) Have never needed the locked open pulley mode, though I did have dreams about using it to load a big buck in my truck. So far I've just been able to squat and lift my deer. Also have never had any accidental locking open or anything like that. Been trying to get myself off of mechanicals and back to ropes and knots though.

I love the CT, I got rid of my rope man for long and kong for CT, it’s far superior and smoother.

I think it comes down to preference. I prefer the ct over ropeman1 or duck. Seems a bit smoother and higher ratings. Only thing is with the duck and ct you need an oval biner, so if you have d shaped ones already, you may need to add an additional biner to your arsenal
