Had a heck of a day on my house today. Poured footers Monday. Forming up to pour walls yesterday and today. Contractor stacked the forms too high on trailer and had a blowout this morning. Forms all over the interstate. Inspector suppose to show up at 2:30. Had to cancel until in the morning. Pump trucks and concrete scheduled to come in the morning. Had to push them back to 1030 after inspection. They not happy because they got other jobs scheduled. Rain coming on Saturday. Got to get it!!!

Well here’s the end result. I looped 1 inch webbing through the large slots and sewed it. I then measured and double layered some Kryptek cordura fabric to fill in the slot to keep the webbing from sliding around. I have to say that this wasn’t very easy to sew having to maintain weird angles while trying to hold the Spurs up and out-of-the-way. I finished them off by replacing the big, shiny hex bolts with sleek, sexy grade 8 Allen head bolts.

So did you glue the fabric to the tops? I’m assuming that’s how you did it. That looks super awesome! And the sewing looks pretty dang good as well

Yes. 500D. I scuffed up the metal with a sanding disc and cleaned it real well with acetone. I used 3M spray contact adhesive to glue it. I put lots of relief cuts around the perimeter to roll the edge over. I used my soldering tool to burn out the holes and slots.

I know this is aged thread but did the glue leave behind any residual smells. I know camo form smells like wintergreen tobacco.

Anytime I'm worried about the smell of me or my gear I always hose down with deer dander. If anything gets past that smell it's just hopeless trying to cover it up.

@ckossuth would there be a way to do the cordura on the shaft of the spur and it last at all?
