I don’t mind stepping through the leg straps. I’ll probably put a square of stealth strip in between the 2 pcs on the leg straps. I ordered a cobra quick release buckle from strapworks. I’m really pleased with this as I starting point. All that said I guess I just built a frankenmantis. I’ll get some tree time & video soon.

We just got our Kites. Could you post a direct link to the buckle please? Also did you have to sew the buckle in?
Thank you.

I ordered the 1 1/2” buckles from strapworks but would order 1 3/4” if I had to do over again. Didn’t have to sew it in. But did need exacto knife & seam ripper, for tag ends. You can stich back up after you thread it through, if you want. I didn’t get to that yet.

Great mods. You may want to add a Tethrd patch to it to tie it all together.

Too funny..... I’ll think I’ll end up with a mantis for comfort comparison. The only reason I didn’t, was I’m under the impression that the mantis is slightly more minimalist than the kite & the buckles. So for me problem solved. The predator was a no brainer!

What’s the total weight with the new buckles?

So the mantis does have the same leg straps that I have used on my kite. I've pretty much made a heavier mantis.

Anyone know what those leg buckles are rated for? Their cantilevered design seems like it makes a weak point.

Don’t know what they’re rated for but looks like same ones Flinginairos has on his Spurs.

The ones on my spurs are aluminum and rated for 275lbs I believe. The ITW G hooks are carbon steel and I’d guess are stronger than that
