Lets talk hammocks

She will quickly get over it and be a giant fan, lol.

If I sleep in a bed it takes forever to get moving in the morning and most of the time my shoulder feels like it’s been run over by a train. If I sleep in a hammock I can hit the ground running in the mornings and my shoulder is no factor. It’s a no-brainer for me so after 29.5 years of being married I don’t really care what she thinks about it, lol.

Are you saying you sleep in a hammock inside every night??

I have one of these I bought off SH

Perfect for side sleepers. I’m a side sleeper, but it doesn’t bother me to sleep on my back. I sleep in the ridge runner every night (I have a stand for it in my house) and I sleep on my side. When I hit the woods I take the gathered end hammock I made and I sleep on my back.
What’s this Ridgerunner like to sit and lounge in? Or is it really just best for sleeping?

Im also a side sleeper on a mattress but after just a few nights in a hammock my brain quickly got used to me sleeping on my back. I still can’t do it in a bed but have no problem falling asleep on my back in a hammock.

Your brain realizes how great of sleep it’s getting and adjusts. I sleep much better in a hammock than I do my bed and I used to think I slept good in my bed.
That is encouraging to hear. I’d really like this to be my solution for better sleep when camping.

It’s good for sitting, probably better because it’s shorter and more rigid across the fabric due to its construction.

Well I learned a few things last night. Figured it was hot enough I didn't need my inflatable mattress so I started with my yoga/workout pad for some spread to make things flatter. That was basically useless so I threw it out. I'm a side sleeper with a bad back. You back sleepers have it good... hammocks, airplane seats, mummy bags, they're all ideal for you. I have trouble falling asleep if I can't get on my side and twist my top hip down to stick out my knee.

Realized without the mattress trying to get into that shape in a hammock doesn't work. After several hours tossing and turning eventually surrendered to the diagonal back prone position and fell asleep...

...and woke up this morning with my hips and back feeling way less tight than they typically do from my bed. What the heck?? So now I gotta either tinker with a system to let me sleep like I want while hanging, or retrain my brain to sleep face up and maybe it'd soften the muscular tension I can't ever relieve.
A Nemo bag will help with that. I am side sleeper too and that bag gives you the room to get in good sleepin position without fighting the bag.

Looking at buying hammock set up any recommendations on brands or what you would rate top 3? I’m 6’1 240 lbs and I’ll be in hot-mild temps 75% of the time and I’ve been eyeing EWO hammock just wondering if there’s any other options one might recommend?

I've been sleeping in a hammock when camping since 2007. I was very active on HammockForums.Net for years. I've gone through several iterations from different companies until I found what worked best for me, to make my own with integrated bug net and insulation. In 2013, I started Bonefire Gear LLC and did that as my second full time job until we adopted our son in 2019. I still make stuff on the side, but mostly just enjoy camping with my gear and now hanging to hunt.

If you're going to want a bug net, think about if you want it integrated or not. Recommendations for traditionally styled hammocks would be Kammock, Dutchware, and Warbonnet; not necessarily in that order. I own a Kammock Mantis setup currently.

If you’re a back sleeper that hammock in the last picture is the way to go, IMHO

Or a Warbonnet ridge runner, but the blue one in those pictures looks noticeably wider than the Warbonnet.

I certainly didn’t intend to come across that way. I need to go back and look at the questions posed and I’d be happy to respond to them.
I thought the original question was who here hammock camps and what do they recommend. I recommended what worked for me: being on hammock forums and making my own gear. My apologies for coming across as anything else.
