Lets talk hammocks

I held off on buying a hammock setup because I had to piece it all together and I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what I really needed or whom to buy from .....Ewo had everything I needed to get started for very reasonable prices

Just looking at your pic and thought I’d comment; I like to set my foot end strap about 6” higher than my head end strap. Give that a try.
Ha, it's funny you said that because when I first put it on the tree it ended up being like that and then I moved it. I'll give that a try. Thanks.

That was a big selling point for me too. All in one, reasonable price and I have been happy with everything I've bought from EWO.

Uh-oh… can’t believe I never realized this before but DutchWare is actually located in my town!! I’ve driven past their location countless times unaware. I about spilled my coffee when I looked up their address. This could be really dangerous… it’s like getting into saddle hunting and finding out EWO is just down the road!!

EWO is. :sweat::flushed: :)

@Weldabeast you probably on to something with the cheap paracord. I did a backyard test last night sleeping out in a thunderstorm. Stayed dry but in tearing down today seemed like the dyneema ridgeline sagged just as much as the paracord guyouts from tarp to stakes after all the wind.

Well I learned a few things last night. Figured it was hot enough I didn't need my inflatable mattress so I started with my yoga/workout pad for some spread to make things flatter. That was basically useless so I threw it out. I'm a side sleeper with a bad back. You back sleepers have it good... hammocks, airplane seats, mummy bags, they're all ideal for you. I have trouble falling asleep if I can't get on my side and twist my top hip down to stick out my knee.

Realized without the mattress trying to get into that shape in a hammock doesn't work. After several hours tossing and turning eventually surrendered to the diagonal back prone position and fell asleep...

...and woke up this morning with my hips and back feeling way less tight than they typically do from my bed. What the heck?? So now I gotta either tinker with a system to let me sleep like I want while hanging, or retrain my brain to sleep face up and maybe it'd soften the muscular tension I can't ever relieve.

I have one of these I bought off SH

Perfect for side sleepers. I’m a side sleeper, but it doesn’t bother me to sleep on my back. I sleep in the ridge runner every night (I have a stand for it in my house) and I sleep on my side. When I hit the woods I take the gathered end hammock I made and I sleep on my back.

Im also a side sleeper on a mattress but after just a few nights in a hammock my brain quickly got used to me sleeping on my back. I still can’t do it in a bed but have no problem falling asleep on my back in a hammock.

Your brain realizes how great of sleep it’s getting and adjusts. I sleep much better in a hammock than I do my bed and I used to think I slept good in my bed. I keep telling my wife that I’m going to string a hammock across the opposite side of the bedroom. I think the only reason I haven’t yet is because she seems a little too excited about sleeping by herself.

She will quickly get over it and be a giant fan, lol.

If I sleep in a bed it takes forever to get moving in the morning and most of the time my shoulder feels like it’s been run over by a train. If I sleep in a hammock I can hit the ground running in the mornings and my shoulder is no factor. It’s a no-brainer for me so after 29.5 years of being married I don’t really care what she thinks about it, lol.

I'd sleep in mine tonight if it wasn't 100 degrees out there right now. I sleep on my back anyway so it should be good. I could sleep on the ground, and almost did last night. My wife and I were out at the end on my driveway between 2 and 3:30 AM this morning watching the meteor shower. I got up out of my packseat for a minute and she took it over. I said Ok, and just rolled up a shirt and laid down in the middle of the county road. It was perfect and I didn't have to crane my neck. She got ready to go in and said she didn't want to leave me down there laying in the road since I might just fall asleep and get run over, lol. It wasn't as dangerous as it sounds since there is a half mile straight away in each direction. No way a vehicle could get near me without me knowing.

I considered setting up the hammock last night to watch the meteors but the trees would block the view.
