Lightweight Barren ridge platform

I've dinked around with mine and made some improvements. There's no doubt the thing could benefit from some silencing, but part of that is also becoming more familiar with it which makes you less noisy handling it.

I added stealth strips around the horizontal bar, side members, and the angle bars. As far as the pins, I've added heat shrink to the retaining clip part and, most importantly, ditched the steel wire that held the pins to the stand. I found those to be bothersome because they made extra noise and slid all over the place. I replaced them with d-loop material and drilled an inconsequential hole in the front side of side bar to hold the back pin and tied the other to the fwd part of the platform.

I've got a 3' foot cable OTW. I think I'll probably use that more than the 4' that came with it.

New model available for preorder. Only change I see is no 2nd set of pins for the angle joints. I personally prefer it to lay flat.

Fair enough; however, several several people were asking for it without that joint so that it would make less noise and be more rigid. I think it’s a good move for them to offer both options. Are they offering both?

That’s looking really good. I think the simple changes will benefit you greatly. Would there be any benefit to placing some tape or something where the collapsible joint meets? I’m thinking for noise reduction. Maybe it doesn’t as much as it appears.

Yes, they’re now offering both options.

Maybe, but it's not a real pain point for noise in my testing. I found the biggest sources of noise being the thin wire cables that came attached to the pins. They would slide all over the place when you were attaching the stand to the tree.
