browsed around on the idea and haven't seen much?
is anyone using some kind of sheath or chafe guard / rope protection on their linesmans belt?

I did find one post about a more cloth looking sheath on an aerohunter? belt i believe
and that it got caught in the ropeman1 and lead to a fall saved by the end knot ... =/

Thanks for all the replies and insight! Good to know! =] such a big investment getting into it, the thought of having to replace a rope was on my mind as an "I hope I can prevent this" haha

Be careful, if your ascender or hitch (harder to do) gets on this thing, then it will rapidly slide out. Due to that and the price of rope, I think it makes more sense to just replace your rope every year or so once it wears.

EDIT: realized that I unintentionally inferred that ropes wear on the tree. They don't in my experience. I meant, if you are afraid of wear or notice it, then just spend another $10 and get a new rope. My last rope was 2 years old and had zero serious wear. I went to oplux this year just for space and weight savings.

I currently use about a 2.5' section of 10mm Technora sheath on my Oplux lineman's rope to add some weight and help flip it up (the abrasion resistance is a bonus). I do have a section of 1:4 adhesive core shrink tubing close to either end in order to keep it from fraying down and also to keep it from entering my CT Rollnlock.

You will not wear a linesman belt/rope/flip line out under normal hunting climbing conditions, your just leaning into it, theres really no friction, adding a sheath or something to make it stiffer wouldn’t be a bad idea but it mite be easier to just go with a stiffer rope then to keep it “simple”. I have been an arborist for almost 25 years.

My 2 CTs will be here Wednesday! :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Our hose took a dump....it was the kind that expands and contracts with water pressure. The outer sheath is tough and fits 8-9mm rope.....I won't be using but if ur concerned and looking for extra rope protection this is a cheap option if u can find a busted hose for free.

I use a linesman rope for work a lot, we use buckingham ropes. They have a clear tubing around rope. You can get some from Home Depot cheap and you can heat it a little in the center to give it a contour bend so it’s easier to get around trees
