Linesman's Belt gadget....

ok here is my Prussic application. Aside from being a mechanical option, how does the Ropeman differ in terms of set-up? Will the rope that I currently use be ok for the Ropeman? I need to understand bathe setup

The ropeman will replace the accessory cord. The carabiner hooks directly to the ropeman which hooks directly to the tree rope. The ropeman will be easier to adjust than the prussik after it has weight on it. The ropeman 1 works with 10-13 mm rope. I can't tell what yours is but it looks like it would be in that range.

That's a pretty cool video, but I still like the hand ascender with foot loop and foot ascender with the Ropeman attached to bridge in between. I tried climbing with knots and then with the method in the video, but with all my gear on I got so sweaty that it just wasn't worth it for me. That guy does explain things really well though

Wow, awesome alternative to the Prussic. I'll have one. Thanks for the help

Just to reiterate:

123mountain.com does not have the Ropeman 1 in stock.

They sent me the Ropeman 2 instead, which I did n ot order.

I have confirmed that they do not have the ropeman 1 in stock and do not know when it will be back in stock.

Their customer service has been easy to work with and they are going to issue a full refund for the item.

The ropeman 1 is very hard to find right now so if you cannot wait for an ascender I would strongly suggest looking into the kong duck instead.

This might be a Dumb question, but why the ropeman 1 over the 2?

The teeth are more agressive on the ropeman 2. I have not used a 2, but I have used similar ascenders and they are rougher on the rope over time.

The bigger issue to me was the loss of easy adjustability. The Ropeman1 simply crushes the rope in order to hold it solid. It basically only uses friction. The Ropeman2 has aggressive dagger-like teeth that actually penetrate into the rope. This made loosening the rope a two handed operation. It didn't work for me at all. I ended up selling the Ropeman2 and replacing it with a Ropeman1.

A friend of mine loaned me one of his new bridges to check out. Made by Petzl and has no teeth. It works by the ring pinching the rope. I have not hooked it up to a rig yet but I will be doing so the next chance I get. A bit pricey but you get the adjuster, 9mm rope bridge and 2 eye splices. My buddy bought 2 on sale for $40 each.

Really? Sorry, man. I just got the two I ordered. I'm glad I jumped on them. If you absolutely need one, let me know.

That looks pretty nice. Considering a rope man 1 is 35 dollars that is not bad. Can you buy the adjuster separate?
