After taking a bit of a hiatus I decided to give the sit drag/rch combo another try. I’ve tweaked it a little and feel it’s much safer. There’s some good sign and a ton of acorns so I think I’ll leave my steps in this area for a few days. It feels good to be swinging again. I appreciate all of the guys who reached out and encouraged me. Thanks!

I like hummingbirds....I don't like manskeeto

My wife attempts a butterfly garden and I put out hummingbird feeder and we see them pretty regular but I'm always surprised how many I see while I'm out in the middle of the woods hunting
Yeah, I like hummingbirds. I keep a couple of feeders out for them during the summer. Mosquitos I can do without. They think they can't do without me, though. I could be in a crowded football stadium, and they could release a mosquito on the 50 yard like and that thing would find me!

Up in a tree in a pinch

Me too. Gamble here, pretty exposed. On a fresh scrape and can almost see another. Have the middle ground covered, hoping to catch one in between. Both have been freshened up recently and trails look active so fingers crossed

The wind picked up bad and started to swirl. Just saw a doe and fawn come under my tree at last light. I got soaked so I’m drying my stuff out to get out tomorrow with this temp drop coming. The rain was supposed to stop at 4 pm today yeah that didn’t happen!!

I hunted morning and evening. This morning I 2TC'd up one side of a two trunked red oak situated on the tip of a point that dropped down into a small valley bordered on 2 sides by a creek and a thicket. It is a spot that has been good in the past. It is pretty far back there too. Nothing was seen this morning, but I really liked the way that two trunk tree set up. I was very well hidden, and I could use the other trunk for a back rest. It was just a really nice set up. I'll be on the lookout for those twin trees from now on.

The evening had me just a bit farther up the creek under a red oak that showed fresh feed sign and some man-sized deer poops. I had high hopes for the evening but all I saw was a possum and another one of those dang armadillos. Looks like I am going to have to start packing a 10-pound kettlebell to drop on those armadillos.

Totally agree on multi trunk trees, I gravitate towards them too!

I didn't see anything last night, I might try that spot Saturday or Sunday earlier in the day though. Trails galore and the scrapes were definitely fresh
