Moon is getting right

public or private?

public during summer, i see the affect. now that the season has been open for 3 weeks here on public, i dont see the affect. is it just me?

seems like the full moon just allows them to become even more nocturnal than normal. almost no mid-day activity that we would have during off-season

Are they not moving or are they not moving where you are watching? Public or private doesnt seem to matter to an extent in my experience. Where they will move in daylight on pressured public is different than unpressured private, but they will still move. We just arent always in the right spot to see it. That is in person or with cams. In both cases we are looking through a straw relative to their range.

Agree. This fits with what I see also. As the human pressure increases, I have to go farther out or go to spots others won't or can't go to, but once there I tend to see the same thing. That said, I can only be in one spot to the exclusion of all others so they may not be moving where I am.

public in summer, they walk around mid day under full moon like they own the place. 3 weeks into season and a mid day full moon, they walk around the place like its a highly pressured piece of public and they stick close to bed.

i scout a LOT. you can tell when you bump them off beds vs when they are naturally moving. i'm still seeing deer now under full moon, but they are bedded mid day. on private, still seeing them move mid day as expected.

sorry as we are WAY off topic. i just dont see the moon affect during season. think full makes movement worse for hunting.

Likely the difference in experience could be the amount of pressure. It certainly varies from location to location. What I consider pressured public could very well be light relative to what you see. I definitely think there is a level of pressure that will override natural instinct.

Somebody get in a tree and post pics so those of us stuck at work will have some daydream material.

I don't think our deer ever calm down around here. They do in town but on the public I hunt they will tear the woods down to get away if they even suspect humans are around, be it October or July. I scouted over 100 miles from February to March 15th this year and I saw maybe 1 or 2 deer on their feet in daylight.

hot dam, that sucks. next august under a full moon, walk the field edges between 12-2pm. if there aren't deer on their feet, move here.

First time out in 2 horrible weeks. A saddle between 2 bedding areas. Rubs and a fresh scrape on my left. I’m in the biggest tree in the area and it’s only a 12 white oak. Hope this wind doesn’t gust

Had a group of hens and some does (the preferred target) came in 30-40 yards, never got a shot. Wind shifted around 3, as predicted and all was good till the T-Storm (not predicted) hit, with 20 - 25 mph gusts. Not a fun ride in a 12" tree. Area warrants further investigation.
