Total washout today. We need the rain so I’m not even mad.

I'm mad that l got setup late. Probably bumped them all away. Hoping they walk back same route they left this morning. Wind also being really unpredictable

Sounds cheesy, but I swear I've never gotten a deer while in a bad mood. I think, at least for me, it's a big mental game. Sometimes I forget the dang wind and stop trying to overthink it all and just hunt. If there's sign around who know what will happen. Once during rifle season I got into the woods super late because of work and walked right into a freaking 10 pointer (rare around here). Didn't get a shot because I was grumpy and not at all ready. I still catch myself going into that mode from time to time and I have to snap myself out of it. I bad day of hunting is still way better then a good day at work.

Funny, my second to last deer was while I was grumpy. My wife texted me a meme, something to the effect guys hunt because he doesn’t have to be good at it, and gets away from home responsibilities. Which is true, but made me mad. Seeing nothing 6 hunts in a row, I got that, started grunting obnoxiously, slamming antlers together, pulled out my oatmeal and started eating and not 20 min after that text 3 does and a buck come chasing right in front of me. Small buck stopped dead and looked straight up at me and I arrowed the fattest doe before I lost the opp.

any one else notice how high all of @bigmike23 pictures are? He must be a big dude judging by the vantage point. Or you have some rare mini-deers out there in PA :tearsofjoy:

All good you’re in deer & it’s significantly cooler than yesterday…… plus the rut. Hang in there & don’t overthink it.

Watch Infants latest videos. Dude is getting smoked. On multiple straight hunts not seeing a deer. Hes still one of the best hunters on Earth, it doesn't get him down, and he keeps after it. And every single year he tags a giant.

To sound cheesy, like Balboa says, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

100%. Especially now. It’s the rut. Get in a tree whenever you can and stay mentally tough. You can go from having the worst season of your life to the best in a matter of seconds. Negative thoughts just lead to negative decisions.

Had to move to a bigger tree because the wind was scary me with the tiny tree l usually like to be in. But I'm basically just enjoying the breeze and the view at this point until dusk hoping doe make their way back to bedding.

But check out this wind. It suck for hunting but I love it for being in the tree just because I'm weird that way.

@redsquirrel what saddle and bow you're using? I assume you're still rocking the Wild Edge Stepp since l heard rumor you tried the sladder and didn't like it.

A kestrel and some bear bow I picked up on eBay. I’m still with my wild edge stepps. Haven’t found anything as adaptable as them. Every time I climb a tree I think would some other method work and often the answer is no.

Quick Friday evening hang. Had my first one sticking "fall" because I was in to big of a rush, I think I stepped on the rope and pulled it from the cleat. Fell about a foot back into the saddle/tether and cought the stick between me and the tree. Very tiny scrape on hip and shin, all good at height now just need to be a bit more cautious, 2 min time difference at height isn't worth it.
