Most godawful struggle getting into a weird tree in a river bottom this am. At one point I heard a noise, turned and saw two raccoons about 29 yards away, just watching me. Could swear they were laughing.
Sounds cheesy, but I swear I've never gotten a deer while in a bad mood. I think, at least for me, it's a big mental game. Sometimes I forget the dang wind and stop trying to overthink it all and just hunt. If there's sign around who know what will happen. Once during rifle season I got into the woods super late because of work and walked right into a freaking 10 pointer (rare around here). Didn't get a shot because I was grumpy and not at all ready. I still catch myself going into that mode from time to time and I have to snap myself out of it. I bad day of hunting is still way better then a good day at work.I'm mad that l got setup late. Probably bumped them all away. Hoping they walk back same route they left this morning. Wind also being really unpredictable
Funny, my second to last deer was while I was grumpy. My wife texted me a meme, something to the effect guys hunt because he doesn’t have to be good at it, and gets away from home responsibilities. Which is true, but made me mad. Seeing nothing 6 hunts in a row, I got that, started grunting obnoxiously, slamming antlers together, pulled out my oatmeal and started eating and not 20 min after that text 3 does and a buck come chasing right in front of me. Small buck stopped dead and looked straight up at me and I arrowed the fattest doe before I lost the opp.Sounds cheesy, but I swear I've never gotten a deer while in a bad mood. All good you’re in deer & it’s significantly cooler than yesterday…… plus the rut. Hang in there & don’t overthink it.I'm mad that l got setup late. Probably bumped them all away. Hoping they walk back same route they left this morning. Wind also being really unpredictable
All of them are 10-12 ft up. If they're lower than that this is every bear within 5 milesany one else notice how high all of @bigmike23 pictures are? He must be a big dude judging by the vantage point. Or you have some rare mini-deers out there in PA
Watch Infants latest videos. Dude is getting smoked. On multiple straight hunts not seeing a deer. Hes still one of the best hunters on Earth, it doesn't get him down, and he keeps after it. And every single year he tags a giant.Sounds cheesy, but I swear I've never gotten a deer while in a bad mood. I think, at least for me, it's a big mental game. @redsquirrel what saddle and bow you're using? I assume you're still rocking the Wild Edge Stepp since l heard rumor you tried the sladder and didn't like it.I love having deer in range on mobile sits. 2 does and Bambi. Unfortunately no bucks yet.
