Lonewolf Custom's Ambush

Why does anyone want a larger platform? At that point we have completely defeated the entire purpose. We get back to stand weights and cumbersome items. The saddle is meant to be the F18 of tree hunting and we are closely approaching a net loss with all this crap we are carrying.

I sold all my stuff here recently except my sitdrag and ring of steps. The saddles are great made, the predator is damn near perfect if you want a platform. 99% of the time you are leaning against the edge of the platform. That one minute you stand up on it in a sit, it seems crazy that youd want a bigger one unless you truly are looking to stand on a platform and only lean back now and then. At that point, why not buy a 7lb locon limit and call it a day.

Some of this has gotta make sense over just doing it to be cool. I have a big swiss army knife of saddle, stands, blinds ... I guess im not a saddle hunter by label. I saddle hunt, when it makes sense.

Does it not speak volumes that neither Cody or Andrae are interested in using that saddle platform at all? At least Ernie and Greg live it.

I have no desire to get one - the predator platforms I have are all I could ever need with a saddle

I'm not sure I agree that a larger platform defeats the entire purpose. Obviously one of the main benefits (and attractions) to saddle hunting is a streamlined approach, low weight, low bulk, etc. However it seems to me that a lot of people saddle hunt because they are just flat out more comfortable in a saddle than sitting in a hang on. Sure a saddle is meant to be the F18 of tree hunting but that doesn't mean it's the only use that makes sense.

I suspect many new saddle hunting products will hit the market...what worries me are the TV paint your face hijacking something that doesnt belong to them

@jlh42581 it makes sense that no matter what Cody and Andrae think of saddle hunting, they do not use a saddle, how can they sell a $500 stand if they hunt out of a saddle? Even if they thought a saddle was a good idea, a tree stand company is not going to ever use it. I am not speaking for them at all just pointing out the obvious fact that they have made a life out of selling stands.

Cody admitted on a podcast he never even tried it. I guess it could make sense but I don't think they're hurting for money.

I agree totally but it is hard to keep a stand following when all of a sudden your followers see you hunting in a saddle. Guess what the soldiers would start to buy, a saddle that your company does not sell. Thats all I am saying. If I owned Ford I am not being caught in a Chevy.

I am not that brand loyal. I will always buy what is best for me. It does not matter what is stamped on the side of it. I still have my loc ons with my saddle. Will not get rid of them. I am about 50% saddle 50% stand at this point. It’s year two for me with saddle.

This is why they designed it with collaboration from Brad Kuhnert, who has been saddle hunting since the 80's. I think's Brad's "saddle" is not a saddle at all. It's a waist belt that distributes the load across his back for leaning and standing on his oversized platform. Once I saw that video from ATA of Brad explaining his saddle, it made sense why he likes an oversized platform like the Assassin and now the Ambush. He never sit's. He just leans and stands. Could be a useful platform if you want to do all three (lean, sit, stand) from a saddle. He talks all about it here ...

Ever since I got into saddle hunting I started an addiction. I'll see some sort of gear and I'll be like, yup gotta have it lol. In this case I have the LWCG mini's and I see this platform and I'm like I gotta have it to pair it together. The wife loves it haha.

I never planned to buy the sticks. I bought the stand. Then the minis came up for sale on Facebook. So I bought them. And now. I want the platform to go with the minis.

I tend to agree for the most part, but then again I'm into saddle hunting almost solely for the weight savings. I know there are a lot of folks who have numerous other reasons. I have the lwcg stand and mini sticks and it seems like the ambush with sticks will only be a two or three pounds lighter and not carry as well so I don't see the point for me. I do think it looks like a really nice platform though and would be really cool to try.

Andrae and Cody don't need to live it, Brad Kuhnert does. You can't blame them for expanding their brand, it's very smart at this time. They did try to do this along time ago with lone wolf, hence the assassin. Think of him what you want, but Andrae seems to be a pretty savvy businessman and where he sees an opportunity to make money he's going to. If people are willing to spend over $500 for an assassin, well then the writing is on the wall.

I am thinking the minis will work good with that platform. And unlike my predator platform. I can use the ambush to carry my sticks and not have need for a bag. So I can have a lighter system if I carry my sticks on my platform. Put the rest of the stuff I need in my cargo pockets.

I just hope the email they send out tells a time and date of when it will go on sale. And not just say on sale now, and by the time I see it there all sold out.
