Hey guys - I’ve been working with it for an hour or so. Just can’t seem to get it to work as well as the assassin. Here’s a quick comparison (4:35). If you see anything I am doing wrong - please let me know. Not sure the video shows well how quiets the assassin is - I was trying to be fast. But between the two as I sit here, one is far superior. Just don’t think I am ready to accept a brand new $300 platform for a back up.
... starting to think I’m just not going to be able to make it work.
wow... look at that ambush flex!
That's what I was going to say. I don't feel like mine flexes that much but I haven't seen myself on it from a level perspective. Are you sure your adjustment/leveling pin is on the platform? That's the only way I can see it flexing that much, if the leveling pin isn't resting on the platform. What I've been doing is tightening the strap with the platform up, then I DON'T push the down. I lower the platform and allow the teeth to grab the tree, then I push the platform down. When it grabs the tree it pulls the tree bracket tight. Also, I make sure the platform is level or angled down towards the grown (slight angle). When I angle it like that it seems to prevent the platform from closing on itself like it did to you when you put weight towards the front of the platform. Also, with that slight angle it allows for better side pressure.
Guys,
I’m 250. Maybe a few pounds under. So not a light weight for sure. I have tried to do the tightening with the platform up and down - tried it just about every which way.
one problem with mine that I think is unique to me is that I cant get the leveling adjustment knob to turn. So, I can’t really do the downward angle that Dobby suggests.
I think it is a swing and a miss for those of us who are greater than 200#. Interesting the Assassin is rated for 250 and the Ambush is 300; but the Assassin is much more stable. That said, I don’t feel unsafe in the ambush. It flexes in the video but doesn’t feel like it will break - I wouldn’t mind so much if it didn’t make the noises and shake progressively looser as the sit goes on.
i requested return labels from them on Friday but haven’t heard back yet. I gave it another good honest try this weekend and I just can’t get it. I think I will go through with the return unless one of you has the magic bullet or fundamental flaw in what I’m doing.
Has anyone actually received a return shipping label yet. I emailed a couple times and got a call from them 2 days ago to confirm I wanted to return. Still no label emailed to me yet
I have and it is already headed back.I am still waiting.
These are my thoughts exactly. Here is the big question, will they improve the platform and offer a new version, or just say nope, no more and scrap the project. I'm not wild about it but I do like it better than not having one.
Who is ready to sell me their assassin? I really thought that the ambush would satisfy my thirst for the assassin at a lesser cost ..... not after watching that video and reading all these disappointed customers. PM me if you want to unload the assassinHey guys - I’ve been working with it for an hour or so. Just can’t seem to get it to work as well as the assassin. Here’s a quick comparison (4:35).
