I also use the grigri (newest model but they didn’t number it the 3). The only difference with the + is that is has a panic mode to stop if you yank the handle all the way. My kids started tree climbing and can work the grigri just fine if that tells you how quick you can get comfortable with it. Look on eBay for cheapest grigri prices.
