I would advise to never make contact with this person/persons. Let the authorities interact with this person only, that's there job, call them, let them do the heavy lifting. That way no he said he said / potential allegations and a costly law suit. Don't want any misunderstandings on this type of stuff.Be real careful. Someone like that, if not dealt with respectfully and appropriately, could easily turn into an absolute menace for y'all. He'll know who's "evicting" him, and you don't want to create an enemy of someone who has little or nothing to lose. That said, letting him continue to come and go freely is no good either, so it's a pickle, to be sure.
Those daisy dukes should be illegal.
My grandaddy has 80 acres up in Hamilton. I went up to spend the night camping once and had the cops called on me by the neighbors. Same neighbors later gave my father "permission" to walk the land that has been in his family for 4 generations...Sounds like you guys are doing all the right things.
My family had all sorts of trespass issues when we bought a new property a few years ago (even lost a 4 wheeler out of it). A lot of people have this mentality that since they've been able to trespass in the past, it shouldn't be a big deal to continue to do so. The best thing you can do is to nip it in the bud as fast as possible and establish an obvious presence. The encounters tapered waaay off once it became apparent that we were on the property on a semi-regular basis.
Ooo! That would burn me UP! I'm not saying I would contribute to premeditated arson, but if an unfortunate meth fire were to catch on I wouldn't be above bringing the hotdogs, beers, and lawn chairs either... I'm an absentee land owner of some family property about 2 hours south of me. I've had numerous similar run ins with different neighbors on my property. I've been asked to leave, threatened with trespass charges, been accused of stealing firewood, etc. all while standing in the middle of my own land. No matter how much it burns me up I've always managed to laugh it off and make light of it with the neighbor who's trying to control my property. Realistically I have to try to be nice about it because ultimately I'm going to go home and these guys are going to be able to do what they want on my property. So far by being nice I've been able to keep the malicious mischief to a minimum. My grandaddy has 80 acres up in Hamilton. I need to go up there and make a presence. It's just 5 hours away and in the middle of nowhere. But when my dad came back and told me about that, I was ready to drive up there and burn their doublewide and all 17 junk cars to the ground.
