Milkweed dispenser

mail

I use alot of milk weed ever year. I've carried it in the pod, drilled out pill bottles, sammich bags, hydraulic line caps and a coin purse. I stole this idea from somebody on the net, just this past season. I like this thing best so far.

It grows EVERYWHERE here in the last 10 years. I grabbed a bunch of pods two years ago and threw them on my dash as a preemptive strike. Went into work and came out.... yeah. Started down the road and there was nothing i could do except open the windows. I cant even imagine how that looked outside cause inside was like a snow globe, stuff everywhere.

Dont mind me, just propagating butterflies.

The original spring in the push pop was to light to use so I used a spring from a paper notebook they turned out ok but the m&m container works better

Sorry man, but I don't like it.
Not trying to be critical of your technique, but I've been using milkweed for over 30 years so I speak from experience.
1st off, with any type of container that isn't attached to your body, you have to reach for it...too much movement. You want milkweed as close to where your hands are...pocket/chest/belly area. You often need to release a floater when deer are in your lap. Doing so may help you determine the risks of waiting for a better shot. Moving your hand against your body to reach a floater is much less noticable to deer than reaching out away from your body.

2nd, what do you do with the pill bottle lid each time you pick a floater? Lid on, lid off. Is the lid tied to the bottle? Can it be dropped? Just something else to deal with.
30+ years of milkweed...keep it in the pod. They will float better.

@heartdart you should probably just do what he says. He has 30+ years of milkweed experience and seems to be very critical of your technique.

Using a rubber banded pod is my favorite way, but I did make this as well because I was feeling in a DIY mood. Great for a landowner that may not want milkweed seeds everywhere.

Old floss container. Drilled hole for dispensing. Easy to load.

Hmm....you all have really cool ideas. I finally found some milkweed. I still haven't figured out what dispenser I am going to use.

So I purchased the rubber coin holders, but dang those things have a rubber smell on them like no other. I'm a scent freak and yes I still hunt the wind, but does this concern anyone else? Has anyone had success on eliminating the smell of those things? I tried soaking them in baking soda & water for a day; seemed to help some, but you can still smell them
