Mini Stick Platforms - OOAL vs. Artisan

I had the Artisan platform and didn't find it comfortable personally. It was too close to the tree for me. The Scout looks like it would be more comfortable being angled away from the tree.

I ran the artisan fab for last season and beginning of this season until i did the 1 stick thing, and i actually flipped artisan to face me and not the tree and it was actually quite comfortable. I ended up putting my feet in that V notch often and leaning to the side.

I plan on trying the scout on one of my 1 sticks next season but this was a pretty solid set up for sure. Could sit 4 hours easy.

I used my Scout on a stick most of the season.
If I was doing an all day sit I took my Predator most of the time, but for 3-4 hour sits I took my Scout.

I really liked it.
I was a little skeptical before I bought it because I was used to being able to put as much side pressure as I wanted on my Predator; however, I swapped out my standoffs with a set from @DanO and it’s the perfect combination. Those allow it to sit a little further off of the tree for some additional foot room and I have no issues with side pressure.

I lean 90% of the time so I went with the angled scout.

As you can see from the first picture, I’m leaning and essentially using the top “step” part of the scout and have plenty of room. Using the actual angled part provides ample space for me.

I’ve used the Artesian platform this season and it’s perfect for a short hunt, 2-3 hours max. I found myself getting uncomfortable sooner than I’d hope each hunt. Never thought of flipping it for more foot real estate off the tree. I’ll try this And report back, thank you for sharing!

Contemplating this right now. The artisan looks better flipped around. Bought a set of mini hawks and thinking of taking the 4th stick and making a one stick platform setup. Have treehopper ros now and works alright, just more adjustment/fiddle factor when setting up. Only really hunt for 3-4 hours before I get bored of not seeing anything so no day hunts for me. Combo of leaning and sitting depending on how I feel and what is getting uncomfortable or cold.

I have both the angle scout and the artisan, and I prefer the artisan. If you need to adjust your saddle when your on the scout its harder. Scout is slightly more comfortable but the artisan is easier to set up because its on your step so you end up being quiter, faster and works better if your a sitter.

I've used my Scout from OOAL on 3-4 hunts, the longest exceeding 3 hours. I contemplated getting the angled version but was afraid I wouldn't like it and would have an occasional need to stand. Glad I went with the straight version because I can actually get a foot angle 2 ways, one by simply letting heels rest on edge of the platform and toes touch the tree. The other is to combine ROS with the platform and position the ROS to finish out slightly higher than the platform as shown in attached picture but close enough to let the ball of your foot rest on the steps while the heel is on the side of the platform. This combination is very comfortable and I'm confident I can make 6-7 hour hunts with this system with no issues. Over time I've found that I really don't need as much foot space as originally thought when I first started saddle hunting, especially with a few steps to help with mobility.

You can purchase a Scout platform to fit 1" square tubing sticks from @DanO through Eastern Woods Outdoors.
I’ve got an angled scout for a one inch stick that I’ll part with if you want...

I didn't think I would like the Scout, but I got an angled that mounts on a 1" stick. My Predator sat in my basement all season. I'm mostly a leaner, and used the Scout even on all-day sits without a problem. An ROS with just 2 or 3 steps is a good addition to this setup.
