Good morning fellow hunters? I hope y'all are having a good day. I have been toying with the idea of a single stick and hunting platform combined. After seeing the Shikar scout, I wondered if there was a way to mod one of my inexpensive sticks that I first got when I started hunting? So I took a three step stick and cut it off just under the top stand-off. I cut it to a length of 6 1/2 inches long. Welded a piece of 2 inch angle iron cut to 4 inches long to the bottom. Cut some teeth on the angle iron so it will bite the tree. I have also drilled a place to install a versa button, as you can see in the picture. So step one is done. Now I just have to grind down the welds and weld together the actual platform. Then finish and paint. This will be used as my primary climbing method along with a Two step aider. So, what do you think so far? Does this look like a viable option for saddle hunting? Also, what should I name it? Before I forget. The total specs for the stick are Top step 10 inches long 5 inches wide. 6 1/2 inches
long. Not sure on the weight yet. With the bottom stand-off only being 2 Inches wide. This produces a natural lean of between 28-30 degrees depending on the width of the tree its on.
