Mother trucker

Not a lease but the public land I hunt has a new large parcel cut pretty much every other year. We hunt around the loggers. The deer don't mind and will run in as the trucks leave to get to the fresh tops. I'll admit it is annoying as can be having to listen to that racket while I'm trying to enjoy my hunt but the deer don't seem to be too phased. My biggest issue is that they seem to target the specific areas I favor to hunt. I bet I've lost 20 hot spots in the last 6-8 years.

The worst part for OP is that this is a lease that you paid for, so it comes with some expectations. If it was just a permission property, I'd say it may help you more than hurt! Those bucks aren't going far at all and this may even concentrate them. Depending on the kind of timbering, could also make for better hunting in future years with some added diversity.

I hunt land owned by a lumber company. They don't clear cut but selectively harvest. Its never even bothered my hunting. In fact. Years following the property gets better because of the open areas start the new growth and increased deer browse, and security. Hopefully you will experience the same. Best of luck to you...

Another is almost the same boat. They started logging our lease right at the end of last season and are still logging, slowest loggers in history!

I know it has already been addressed but, I'd be off the rails personally. That should've been addressed early on and taken care of. I'd ask for my money back since it happened before the season even started.

Some of my best deer have came from areas that were stripped a few years before and come back thick. Hunt the edges and you'll get em because that will be new bedding area. Does it suck for this year??Yeppp sure does but you could be in for great hunting soon!!!

A property next to the one I hunt was sold and when it was clear cut they came too far into the property I hunt and took out the tree my stand was in. Took me forever to figure it out cuz the tree was gone. Literally where’s the landmark?! Deer are coming back though, they’ve just changed their path.
Another property I had exclusive access too the owner sold and didn’t bother to tell me. So needless to say I was a bit confused when I went to check my cams and my gates and locks were gone. I contacted him and he casually mentions oh yeah I sold the property, cancan grab your stuff. Thanks guy.

Every time you go hunt get there early and ask the head person what time they are going to shut down. Hang a stand on the loader set and be in it before they leave. Deer will be there in just a minute after they pull out. Been through what you are dealing with more than once. Not great for killing mature deer obviously but you can straight fill a freezer. Time to whip up some lemonade.

Scout the perimeter of that bedding area and try to find their escape route or next bedding area out past the cut line. It sucks this is happening but stay positive as its out of your control. Adapt and overcome!
Good luck bud.

Update. Went out there today. Talked the the head tree whacker. Said they expect to be done in 4 weeks from last Tuesday....couple weeks into NC bow. But... where they are cutting might not be a bad thing. There’s a creek ther that they Abe to leave a 50’ either side as is.

We have access to tractors with discs/tiller and will make the best of it by planting some excessively large food plots.

The other good part. We did get $2k back. So there’s that. Also it forced us into some none explored areas and found some good places. A few so good we found neighbors stands right on the edge, facing into us. Also met a couple locals. If you know my other post about the meth-head squatter... his name is Danny. Also likes to borrow trail cams apparently. Got a lot done todAy. And going back next weekend. Can’t wait to see the how far they get in another week. Was pretty amazing to watch for a few.

I’m going out Friday night I think. Gonna put a couple camera up and maybe do some glassing right at dusk where they working
