Well then the question begs, if they look exactly the same, how is anyone supposed to distinguish between the older recalled sticks and the newer non-recalled ones? Seems like an awful mess-up on Muddy's part...

Yes the whole thing is nuts. You think they’d get tired of dealing with all the sticks coming in for recall and actually use customer service to deal with the issue up front. Example, having a KNOWLEDGEABLE person call you back, ask questions or to see photos of your sticks to figure out up front if your sticks are non recall or not.

I love the cam system and packability but I am personally going to go another route. Probably Dan O or Beast sticks...if they ever come in stock lol.

Plus the muddys are heavy and less stable on the tree than other options.

My problem is solved. I drove 4 hours round trip to Bass Pro at Leeds. Picked up a set of Hawk Helium. Will most likely do the DIY mod. I will not ever sale the muddy pro to anyone just by chance they are defective.

Their customer service hasn't responded back to me about this issue. I bought a set off someone else brand new and one of the stand offs wasn't threaded. I thought I could just retread it, nope. I was wrong. Either the rod was machined too thin or was cut too short. After buying a die and retreading it, the nut doesn't grab.

They offered me to pay shipping to them and they would replace the part and send it back for free. I wanted to take that offer but I guess I'll just try and fix it myself.

I BOUGHT A SET LAST YEAR TO REPLACE MY OLD ONES THAT GREW INTO A TREE. I TOOK THE ROPES OFF THAT CAME WITH IT, BOUGHT 8MM CLIMBING ROPE FROM REI AND ADDED SOME LENGTH. I HAVENT EVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THESE SETPS AT ALL. I TAKE INTO THE WOODS WITH ME EVERY TRIP. IN MY OPINION THEY ARE THE BEST STICKS FOR QUICK, EASY AND SILENT SET UP.

.....there was always just a little too much play in the steps when I was setting my tether for my liking.

I discovered this very same thing today.....this is the second time I’ve used them and I didn’t notice it before, but certainly bothered me this evening.

I tried my Hawk Helium’s today (not modified). Out of the box I prefer Muddy Pro, the short stick with cam cleat. Not enough weight savings on Heliums if not cut down. I foresee modifying my Heliums. I have no doubt the Heliums would be winner.

Carrying the full length Helium sticks is a pain. They hang up on everything i pass by. I own a set of mid size fold up chairs, so I re-purposed the bag. Sticks fit great and it has a shoulder strap. I do not carry a backpack for short hunts. I believe the bag will work great.

Did customer service ever take care of you or did you get it threaded? If not, I have this part from an old stick and I'll send it you fo free! Get you in the tree with all 4 sticks

I'm supposed to contact them again but I've been so busy at work and they will probably take forever to get back to me.
I would love to take that off your hands though! Let me pay for shipping at the very least.
