muzzle loaders with saddles

I use one like that on my stock I slide mine on and have a extra attatch to sling

Thinking of doing this next season -- do you load your first shot before you climb? Or do it once you are in the tree?

thx

This is third weekend in mn. Sat all day last Saturday. Will be sitting all day tomorrow. Got 2 tags to fill

Definitely helps to have a platform to reload on
How do you like the Ruger inline ML? At least the bolt and 3P safety makes me think it's a M77 ML
I own a T/C Encore two Knight Elites and a 10ML-II smokeless. LOVE me some inline ML's.
And BH209 is the best non-smokeless BP sub I have ever tried and I tried them all. I'd pay for BH209 and turn down any other BP sub for free.

I’ve had the Ruger 77 for many years and killed a lot of deer with it. It’s too bad they stopped making them. Great, strong and accurate for sure

I may take my muzzleloader out this coming week and hunt from the saddle. I hunt with the muzzleloader during regular gun season too,i love how light it is and how little it kicks.
This will be a first with the gun in the saddle.

I load mine the night before the season and it stays that way until I shoot it or the season ends. The only time I’ll take it out is if I sit in rain. Here a ML is considered unloaded when the primer is taken off.

I load mine the night before the opener and leave it loaded without primer, when not hunting, until I shoot it. I like to keep it in the truck at camp instead of bringing it in. I feel this helps with moisture control due to temperature changes.

During the season I'll leave it in the garage for temperature reasons as well.

I load on the ground , but pull my rifle up barrel down, and it is a blot action, so the bolt is pulled back. I guess you could load it, and leave the cap out, but barrel down

I load at the truck powder, bullet, and primer. Mine is an inline and to load the primer u gotta pull the bolt/firing pin back. Once the primer is in I hold the bolt and squeeze the trigger and close the bolt...I have a sharpie mark on the sling that is the central balance point and hook my pull up there so the gun is horizontal while being pulled up....once it's up in the tree with me I pull the bolt back and it ready to fire. Close the bolt at the end of the day and once at the truck I take the primer out. It stay that way until shot, either at game or once season over....I've never owned or been exposed to a muzzleloader but bought mine last season wanting to gain that extra month of hunting season....I really enjoy shooting it. something about the simplicity of it is satisfying to me. Bow still #1 choice but the muzzleloader close second....haven't killed nothing with it yet but if I get any small game hunts in this year I taking the muzzleloader and going after some hogs
