You really want to go down a rabbit hole start reloadingGlad to hear so many positive reviews of the gun. I honestly had no idea how deep the rabbit hole went when I got the gun. I really thought it was a simple get gun, scope and ammo and call it a day. Omg I was so wrong. It’s just as in-depth as bow building / hunting. It’s been a fun ride so far and am excited to get to range to see what it’s got.
Looks sweet!!! Do you go through a barrel break in process? I know some guys will chime in and say it is not necessary, but I do it with all of my new rifles and all of my rifles are extremely accurate.
Be sure to clean the bore out real well before the first shot as well. I usually clean between the first five shots, then every 3 shots thereafter until I go through a box of ammo. I always break the barrel in and get close to zero with cheap ammo. Then after that I shoot 5 shot groups with different flavors of ammo until I find what the gun likes to eat. If you are sighting the gun in for hunting be sure to let the barrel cool off well between shots to see where your zero is “cold bore”I planned on shooting 5 then clean bore, rinse and repeat three times then good to go. Least that’s the plan based on what was recommend in some of the precision shooting videos I’ve watched.
If you want an amazing way to break in your barrel and hone it at the same time, look up David Tubbs final finish rounds. Twenty rounds with different levels of abrasives on the bullet to break it in and fine hone it at the same time. Tubbs is a ten time winner of the camp Lejeune 1000 yard shoot with 308. I use them religiously on all my 308sI planned on shooting 5 then clean bore, rinse and repeat three times then good to go. Least that’s the plan based on what was recommend in some of the precision shooting videos I’ve watched.
