My modded anderson

Ok great - will try the rings just as you have - that's awesome!

Now, how in the heck is what you showed in that video your tether? It connects to both rings, and goes around that post. I get the adjustable part(that's actually how I use the lineman's on the hybrid with the same method you use there), but not how that acts as a tether.

I'm sure this is me not understanding. Or are you saying it's your tether, but you're showing it being used as a linemans in the video?
yes, linemans in video, sorry!

Convince me not to cut off the steel oval rings, and replace them with the Petzl opens?

I sewed on a waistbelt into the top piece of webbing of the sling. I'll put a dual adjustable buckle on it. But now I'm looking at those oval rings, and with no need to attach the petzl's to the waist belt, I could just swap the ovals out. Worst case, I'm unhappy with it, I replace the oval rings with steel screw links and i'm back to square one.

Thoughts?

Bridge over neck and waist belt makes it easy to wear in. Think that will work nice.

I’m pretty sure I can just swap the open rings for the steel ones. I could girth hitch lineman’s on but think it may be better to biner both sides

What about leaving the steel loops and using an amsteel continuous loop to clip linesman?

Weighs nothing easy to fish in and out.

I wouldn't cut those. I thought 5he same thing, but the rings would cause the webbing t curl and not stay as managed and in the right place as the rectangular ones that are original. Might cause comfort issues, and twisting that doesn't currently happen...

I think it's a ice of mammut 5mm, I will gauge it for you later. It's a piece of a cordollette I've been using climbing for a long time....
And it's excessively wrapped because I need to shorten it and haven't got to it :)

continuous loops it is! mods done! i'm pretty happy and it seems pretty comfy. waist belt is a nice addition

This pains me too see. I had an Anderson for 35yrs or so and sold a couple years back. Now I see why the guy wanted it!

Nice! Definitely going to try this. I stumbled across a brand new in the package Anderson a few weeks back on eBay for $28 free shipping. Couldn't get Petzl rings through like @Vtbow did. I can't believe how comfortable these are. Looks like they would be pretty easy to make with the right thread injector.

I located the waist belt there specifically so I can keep it relatively tight around my waist without pinching bridge loops together. It allows me to unload the sling, pivot, turn, all that jazz, and one is always in place if I slip. I still have to adjust the lower sling if I unload. Having said that, it's pretty simple, light, and may be more comfortable than the two strap options out there. Certainly nice in the warm weather. I love how it packs too.

That's funny, I find my anderson ridiculously comfortable :)

It's probably more the set up I have in this particular tree. I made some adjustments this weekend & it's much better. I am going to look into adding some padding to it though. Especially the lower section. Adding a back belt helped a bunch.

Stupid hybrid - I got so much joy out of rigging this sling, and how tiny it is, and how comfortable I think it’ll be. Then I went and shot out of the hybrid and had a cold beer hanging ground level in tree in the yard. Really tempered that excitement...

I added some padding to the bottom section last night & think it will be a lot better. I'll try and get some pics of mine this week and post them.

No reason you can't hunt out of both...A golfer carries more than 1 club. :)

Can someone who has an Anderson please post some dimensions? Thinking about making one to play with. Mainly looking for overall side to side length of the sections, depth of each section, and distance between the 2 connectors of each section. Thx!
