NE OKLAHOMA hunting Lease spots open

That's because you live in Ohio. I pay 1200 for a bow only lease in Ok that has potential for 160 class. I pay 2000 for a lease in Texas and it only has 140 potential and that is cheap for any lease in Texas.
It's all supply and demand. Land owners charge that because people are willing to pay it. Very little public land in Texas and what there is had very high pressure. Ok has a lot of public land but it's also very high pressure. Knocking on doors doesn't work when the land owners know they can get $10+ per acre.

Ohio has less than 4% public land and a very high hunter density. It still works out though.

I guess I just can’t justify $50/lb of deer meat when I can buy quality grass-fed beef for less. You can’t eat antlers.

To each their own I suppose.

If you start factoring in the cost of your bow/rifle, clothes, time, etc. It will always be more expensive then buying meat from the store, even without a lease. Most people I know hunt for recreation not for sustenance. The meat is just a bonus. You could take up bowling for a hobby but then you get nothing in return.

Plus, if you picked up bowling, you wouldnt have to worry about a girlfriend spending all of your money.
