Need help, diet

Meat eggs nuts and vegetables. This has been my main diet for about a year now and I'm easily down 80lbs.
Ive counted calories and did the macros thing and of course that works, but serioisly is that a substaniable lifestyle? Now I eat from the outside aisles of the grocery store, do my best to eat inside a 6 hour window and only drink beer once a week (worst part) and its falling off and easy substainable lifestyle.

It's worked for me, of course I have a nice cheat meal here and there but I'm on a 40 carb a meal max diet. Also helps a lot when salads one of your favorite meals. Typically for breakfast I have a couple hard boiled eggs and a low carb yogurt or 2, for lunch I'll eat something light to get me to dinner, some mixed nuts or low carb snack cakes/granola bars(fiber one has these) and then dinner would be a chicken salad or salad and steak. The low carb snack cakes help with the sweets cravings a lot they're 5 net carbs vs the 40ish carbs you'll find in lil Debbie's. Theres a million low carb low calorie options you just have to spend time in the grocery store checking labels.

I started the low carb when i turned 50. Now year and a half later am down 50 lbs and maintaining my weight at 200lb. At 6'5" i feel good. Main reason i changed was similar to insulin video, but you can lump Alzheimer's into that category too. It is sometimes considered a type of diabetes. With my mother fighting it and other issues i decided if there is anything that I can do to help my health, I owe that to my loving wife and my children. IMO too many people are selfish about there bodies and say its my body i will live it up. But I would like to be around to help my kids out and enjoy a better quality of life... So I support you by my Prayers and encouragement to make the changes you need to live a better life. Not only for you but for those you love...

I did IF one year and lost a few pounds but I lost quite a bit of fat. I was lore lean and muscular then I’ve ever been. I was eating a four hour window but I just can’t seem to get back on it without giving into cravings. When I get off work in the morning (0500) I tend to eat garbage before bed. Upon waking I eat more garbage. Then at work I eat clean lol. It’s a mess. I’m a comfort eater, I eat when stressed or in front of the tv. I’ve read tried drinking something like warm green tea with Splenda to help with the cravings
I eat more carbs about every 4 days even when I am low carbing. I get cravings like you. It is hard to resist carbs. Once I start, it makes me more hungry to eat more carbs.

Atkins, one of the earliest proponents of this diet says to add back limited carbs once you reach normal weight. Carbs are in every diet. Just the level varies.

I have been fasting for 4 days and am down 4 pounds. It should be mostly water. Each day, I ate a small amount of food around dinner time. Yesterday, 2 four inch italian sausages is all. Today, so far, many cups of coffee but 2 of them with HWC (Heavy Whipping Cream). Nothing else today. I am not hungry. I started at 181.0 lbs and am currently at 177.0 lbs. Food is mostly a "time to eat" thing and not a "need to eat" thing.

I’ve been on keto for 8 months
Lost 50 in the first 4

Gotta put into it what u expect to get out
If u don’t stick to it then don’t expect to get to any kind of goal weight

If u need a motivator we can text back and forth

I got @setxhunter going
He’s made a huge success

I’ll keep u accountable

We can talk each other off the ledge of Oreos and milk at midnight

I've tinker off and on with keto for migraines, this time I've been on for two months and have lost 22 lbs. Thing is man, you've gotta have either the willpower and motivation to stick with it or you've gotta get so tired and fed up with your current state that nothing will distract you. Healthy sustainable weight loss takes time. Unless you make a lifestyle change (start working out, change in eating habits, etc) you'll likely yoyo

I was on this journey a few years ago from 216 lbs to 156 lbs. I know what to do. I just have to stick to it. I bought 4 quarts of HWC today. I was mostly low 170s for the past 4 years but I let it get away from me lately.

Hey man, I’ve been there. 20 years in the Corps. The last few years took its toll on me and I took on an extra 40lbs I didn’t need. Two years after retirement I got my stuff together and got to where I needed to be. It’s more than diet. It’s more than exercise. No “one thing” will get you where you need to be. If you want to reach out to me, I’d be glad to share with you what worked for me. It’s much more than can be typed out here. At 47 years old, I’m better than I was when I was when I was a 25 year old Marine.

Wish you all the best. I’m glad to help however I can. We all deserve great health, and we are all capable of achieving it. It doesn’t take anything more than will power. No supplements. No subscriptions. No plans. Just knowledge. The only thing I’d suggest you invest in is time. Too many people look for a single step fix-all. There isn’t one.

A few books that are exceptional refences:
Gut (Giulia Enders)
Beyond Training (Ben Greenfield)
How to Eat, Move, and Be Healthy (Paul Chek)

Those books have just about every bit of information one may need to conquer the myriad roadblocks we all face in achieving the healthy life we are searching for.

I feel like any diet will fail without exercise. When I exercise or lift regularly it really puts the food in context and makes it so much easier to make healthy diet choices.

I started cycling bc I hate to run. I love it. You can get a great road bike from Walmart for $200.

I know the OP asked for diet advice but I really think a key to sticking with a diet is exercise. They go together, a hard workout will make you want to eat healthy. You’ll see results faster and that will motivate you to continue to exercise and eat well.

I’ve been eating mostly low carb for a number of years, and got great results the first few years, but I’ve plateaued recently. A number of reasons to point to - cheating, getting older, minimal gym time with COVID, etc...

I’ve been “intermittent fasting” for a few years, but have recently been doing some deep dives into the subject. There’s a ton of research being conducted by some very smart people - Peter Attia, Jason Fung, Rhonda Patrick, Valter Longo to name a few. The benefits go far beyond losing weight although that is definitely a benefit. I particularity like Attia’s dietary framework based on three categories (1) Dietary Restriction- what you eat (2) Calorie Restriction - how much you eat (3) Time Restriction - when you eat. He says you should always be pulling one of those levers, often pulling two, and occasionally pulling all three.

So in addition to tightening up my dietary restrictions, and daily 16:8 TRF, I’m adding longer fasts (24-48 hours) sandwiched between Keto days that should extend the benefits of each fast.

I lost 70 lbs in 4.5 months doing fasted cardio or HIT training and keto/carnivore. I got stuck at 250 lbs for almost a month and started looking into longer fasts. I'm eating keto OMAD and doing 2 48 hour fasts per week. Sitting at about 235 right now.

I went through same deal, but to a slightly lesser degree. I don’t eat from 8pm-12pm most days(sometimes I cave between 11-12 due to work schedule). I eat meat, eggs, nuts, vegetables. No carbs Unless I will be burning a lot of calories from exercise or activities. You can easily figure out your base metabolic rate online, and figure out roughly how many calories you burn a day. Eat less than that, you’ll lose weight. Pretty simple.

certain prescriptive diets help people with significant weight loss. But I’m pretty sure “don’t eat carbs” and “eat less calories than you burn” will work for 99% of everyone else.
Must watch what and how much you put in your pie hole. PERIOD!!!!

I all but quit drinking and I've dropped 30 lbs since January. I also walk/jog 5 miles a day but I was doing that while drinking and the weight didn't drop. I still eat the same. Have a beer or two a month and that is it.

All my life I’ve played sports, been in shape, did power lifting etc etc. now at 37 I struggle with staying in shape. I can’t seem to get below 245. I’ve tried going careless, intermittent fasting, keto etc. just can’t seem to stick to anything. Any advice?
I quit smoking, chewing and drinking (which just about killed me) COLD TURKEY!

The trick, find something you LIKE to do, and STICK TO IT. You have to WANT it, and it has to be something you ENJOY doing.

The WILL for want/change is a very powerful thing as I have discovered first hand. Dig deep, figure out what you truly want, and go GET IT.

Sorry about the caps, just wanted to put emphasis on those words. Another thing, outside support plays a huge role, the more support, the more motivation. Good luck!
