I still have enough to make a second tether for my hang-on harness, which can be shorter in length since it doesn't need to reach down to my belay loop. So I'll do that, and that will be it for me lol. I will enjoy having the reduced bulk of a spliced loop in my dump pouch!

Is the cover on it the problem? It looks to be pretty tight from the pics.

I believe so. It just doesn't have much expansion to it. To get the core through in the first place I was stumped and asked a question about, I had to use a doubled over piece of steel wire and really taper the end of the core to pull it back through. Even then, I had the free ends of the wire in the vice and it took 30 minutes of milking with gloves to get the core to pop back out into the open. If I squeeze that thick region just beneath the loop, where the lock stitching is, it might as well be like trying to squeeze a steel rod. Solid as a rock.

Lol yeah that makes it tough! Glad you got it tho and I know you'll enjoy not have a big knot on there. Splicing is the way to go!

Wonder if there is some sort of lubricant that would ease this process and not deteriorate the rope?

Good question. Maybe like a dry lubricant of some sort. I'll send an email to Wesspur and see if they have any tips.

Ya know I have thought of that as well but never looked into it. Would be awesome if there was something you could use!

I heard back from Wesspur. They didn't have any tips, but did say they've heard of people who use lubricants before. Also, they said the first shipment of Predator rope they received had a much tighter jacket, and it's likely I got my rope from that batch.

looks great, I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I was thinking of a loop on both ends so I could hook my gear on it going up. Thanks for the pic. Greg

That's how I have my tether set up now. 4" loop for around the tree and a small loop on the other I can clip into. Works really nice!

I'll be getting some of that rope soon so I hope I get the newer jacket! Haha

Good evening, Got home today and my yale bandit rope had arrived. Can you guys tell me what size fid you used. I made one out of an aluminum arrow to make my linesmen belt, but I think its to big for the new rope. And do you think yale bandit will work for rope to cam a platform I'm finishing up.

I actually use a knitting needle with the end cut off as a fid. Not real sure the size of it but I got it at Walmart. I also use an Easton Axis Carbon arrow with a guitar string through it so I can grab the core when I pull it back through the cover. The bandit wouldn't be the great fit camming a platform I don't think. It would work in a pinch but not the ideal rope for that use. I can take some pics of my "fid" for you in a bit!

Thanks flinginairos, I'll pick one up in the morning. I will use a ratchet strap for my platform. Thanks Greg
