Need some fairy dust help.

Also. His new limbs just came in. We had to order 40# limbs for his nexus 2. Couldn’t do 50 yet

How old is your son? The reason I ask is because I went through the same thing with my son. Last year he was a 23.5" draw at 40 lbs and this year his draw is 26" and the bow is now set at 52 lbs. I tuned his bow last year and this year to shoot my 28.5" 510gr arrows because I know he is not done growing and I don't want to build shorter arrows that will eventually be too short as his dl increases.

He will be 13 in September. The bow he has goes from 23.5 to 30.5 I have limbs for it that are 30-40 and 50-60. I don’t mind cutting them down. My little one (7) is starting to show interest or I’ll donate them to the school program.

That makes sense then since you have another little man that can put the arrows to use. Good luck!

I would go for more of a 400 grain arrow with a super sharp cut on contact two blade head like a magnus stinger. I’m 25 now but when I started bow hunting at 12 I shot 40lbs with a short draw. My arrow was around 400 grains with two blade magnus stingers. I shot a couple deer with that bow and never had any penetration issues. Actually all 3 deer I killed with that bow were pass throughs. My max rangefor a shot on an animal was 25 to 30 yards.

We spent several hours at the bow shop the other day going through spines and inserts and several options. We have narrowed it down to 400 spine Easton axis. Low pro 4 fletch and a 75 grain insert to start. Going to build one and play with the weight to dial it in for him.

Have you looked at cutthroat or kayuga or the clever broadheads is possible options?

I have. I like the cutthroat allot. I have some 200 gr. I also have kudu points. Just going to play around with weight on the need to see what our best performance is.

Ok. I’m trying to build my boy a max 25 yards set up. So I need you heavy arrow guys help. His draw is 23.5 at 40lbs. So I’m wanting to get him to 500gr. Well here is the other thing. His arrow is 25” long. The only thing I can come up with is a crap ton of weight up front. Trying to run numbers now. Yes I’m a speed guy but I feel heavy at low poundage is more ethical.

The nice thing about the short arrows is your FOC goes way up. Like someone else said, look up the dik dik videos. I wouldnt go with FMJ shafts ive seen some bad reviews. I dont think RF likes em either. Theyre heavy and you dont want weight in the shaft or the back really. The axis pro LR are nice and not super expensive. or those black eagle carnivores. Still snapped a couple last season though (only on deer).

Aside from being a bit of a pain to sharpen(IMO) the kudu points are great. Had a friend take them to Africa with a 650 TAW setup and blow through a kudu bull shoulder. The PH looked at him like he did the impossible

I am very fond of the kudu. They fly good. With the right sharpening kit it’s easy. Several friends use them with excellent results.

The sharpening alone is enough to keep me away. Same thing with the GS Alaskan and massai heads.
