How many custom bows does one man need? I’m jelly.I was over at my dad's last night and we glued up the riser for my new bow. Riser is walnut and burl Myrtle with some mosaic accent strips. Can't wait to get this thing done.

Ouch. You didn’t have to go that deep on me! I’d love to be able to do something like this with my dad and have to pass on to kids and grandkids. Looking forward to the finished product.Well my dad won't be around forever and I don't know how many grandkids I'll have. It would be a shame if I didn't have enough bows to make sure they all had one from their great grandfather.
At least that's what I tell my wife.

You guys decided on specs yet? Is he going to try moving grip more forward like you mentioned he was thinking about?I was over at my dad's last night and we glued up the riser for my new bow. Riser is walnut and burl Myrtle with some mosaic accent strips. Can't wait to get this thing done.

Looking good, so your family preferred a high grip in general?
So what does your dad uses for limbs? Core? Veneer from same wood? Has he ever consider some of the new tech like carbon in the laminate?
The limbs for both of these bows will have a parallel and tapered lamination of Walnut. He's made limbs with cores of osage, bamboo, maple, and others. He's also used carbon a few times. The last two bows he made for me had carbon with Bocote veneers. A set of limbs he recently made from walnut outshot my carbon/bocote limbs. which is why I kept it simple and went with walnut on this bow.
