Hello Trad hunters. I just did a little bow project and thought I'd share. I have been really impressed with the Black Hunter longbow/ recurve that is sold on eBay, amazon and Twig Archery. (Same as the Galaxy Ember sold by Lancaster archery). It is a bullet proof cheap 60 inch bow. I have a short 27 inch draw and I decided to use the black hunter's longbow limbs and make my own shorter custom riser. I ended up with a 13" riser and a 57" AMO longbow. The 40lb limbs are pulling 46lbs@28 due to the shorter riser and more aggressive limb pad angle that I chose. The bow just barely starts to stack at my full draw and shoots great. Anyways it was a fun project and I only have about $110 bucks into it. The riser is made of Black Walnut, Oak and black fiberglass accents. I plan on making a few more risers down the road and experimenting with different limb angles.
