Hey everybody! Great site, tons of good information. Been bow hunting a little over ten years now and have gone from sitting on the ground, to ground blind, tree stands, and now this year I’ll be trying out a tree saddle. Bought a Kestrel Flex kit, couple extra carabiners, ropeman 1, 80 feet of Samson predator, hawk helium sticks, and a tethrd predator platform. After 2 months of waiting my saddle finally got here. Practiced on the pull-up bar to get the fit right and practiced DRT knots and all that good jazz. Have also done a couple practice climbs and set ups in the woods and all I can say is wow, feels so safe compared to a tree stand and being able to hide behind the tree and pivot around is going to be a huge advantage. Excited for bow season is an understatement.

That was my 2nd impression, the first is that giant pucker as you unhook you’re LB at height for the first time!!!! But it’s way safer than the craziness I used to do & I like being connected from the ground up...,

Hahaha! Yeah, there definitely was a little pucker factor first time stepping onto the platform from the sticks. I hook up my tether while on the stick, then step onto the platform slowly. Then I adjust my tether again and set weight into it slowly before taking off the linemans belt. From time to time I would get vertigo while in a tree stand and I didn't like that one bit, especially in the dark. World of difference having a taught line and the tree in front of me. That's another reason I ordered my stuff early, to give me ample time to practice and get comfortable with the system. Hopefully get 100 or so practice climbs in before the season starts so everything is second nature.

That's my goal too as I'm a first time saddle guy. Practice, practice, practice. Welcome from Maine!
