New from Ontario

I am still waiting on the menace. I got everything else in the mail though. Tethrd recommended the Menace. I really wanted the ESS but listened to them. I honestly am not sure if i will keep the setup as I bought it all out of frustration. I am a ground hunter but took a hiatus from deer for 14 years. I got back into it and just can’t seal the deal. I get close but get busted, definitely not as sharp as I used to be. But a 14 year break will do that I guess!! Haha! Anyways I hope you do well sir.
Oh nice! How do you like the menace? There is a lot of crown land up there thats for sure including the kawartha highlands.

Welcome from Kitchener Ontario. New to saddles (just bought the tethred phantom), new to bow hunting (been using a crossbow) and new to hunting (3 years now). Needles to say this post season is going to be fun learning everything over with a bow and out-of a saddle but im confident this was the best move to make. I'll keep in touch when I get back in the woods with the saddle.

Cheers !!

Good luck and hope you find some good spots. I've been hunting crown land and have a few new spots lined up for scouting this post season. Still looking for my first deer, ill be applying for an antlerless tag next year and get a second tag for a buck.

welcome from toronto...I hunt rice lake (duck) and south side of it for or deer..among a lot of other places in ontario..have a few friends living close to you. great place to be. I'm a newbie as well. I been hunting the later part of season with a DIY saddle/climbing harness and just got the Tethrd phantom saddle and predator platform, looking so forward to getting the last bit of hunting in it.

That is a nice place to be as well, give a post of how you find the saddle and platform combo. Depending on how my post season goes I may pick up some climbing sticks and a platform.

Good hunting

sure thing. prob use it next week for the first time. as for the sticks ,I've been using the hawk helium 30".. got the 4 pack at bass pro Vaughan mills for $170.. I like them a lot and was standing on the top steps as my platform. worked out but a platform well be a more comfortable on the feet and legs for the long sits ..alot of others use shorter sticks to lighten the load and add climbing aiders to help with the lost length..

there's lots of info on YouTube about it (reviews) and mod vids.. plus on here. but being from toronto , not all is available to buy here or close/ within canada. however if you buy from the states , don't use UPS for shipping. I paid $30ca duty which happens sometime but UPS charged me $68 ca for brokerage fee for the platform. I saw someones post about this after I ordered. my saddle and rope man 1 was shipped with USPS and I didn't pay any duty or brokerage fee.

good luck and I will let you/ everyone how I like my combo.

Thanks for the tips !! I'll check out what's available around us and mods if needed on YouTube.

Cheers,

@TreemanDan , I am from Ottawa, and currently trying to determine which saddle is best for me and Canadian climate. I am seriously looking at the same ESS saddle myself. Where did you order it from and how is the sizing with regards to winte6r close?

I run a Kestrel size 2 in full winter gear and am good. I am 6'3" 220lbs. I am also run a phantom in Large and again that is good with all my winter gear on.

One issues for all the saddles is that the insulation in your a$$ gets compressed and the saddle doesn't really offer any warmth. I would say that there might be a slight benefit to a solid paneled a$$ in the harness.
