Hello Everyone,

I am new to hunting this season and wanting to give saddle hunting a shot, hence the “latestart”. I have a couple hand me down treestands and have gotten to see a few deer still hunting from the ground. I don’t know anyone that hunts so I am figuring it all out trial and error. A couple close calls but haven’t gotten my first deer just yet. I will welcome any advice/guidance as I start to read through all the threads. If there is anyone close to ocean county NJ I would love to drive out and check out a saddle in person.

Thanks!

I am in the northern part of NJ for the week in Morris county. I have the whole tethered setup with me while I am up here.

Welcome to the site. I grew up and have family in Monmouth Country. Where are you located? If you don't find anyone who can help you sooner we could hook up after the season.

Where at in Morris county? Are you usually in NJ?

I am in oak ridge. I use to live here. I will be back. I live in the communist nation of Maryland for now...
Nice. I'm in parsippany. I hunt up that way at least a few times a season. I don't think NJ is much better... lol

Thank you all. I’m in Tuckerton. Catching up after the season would be great. I dont want to take up time anyonw could be in the woods.

If you don't get an offer during the season just send me a message after the new year so we can set something up :)
When I was a kid we would stock quail and hunt around Tuckerton. I can remember some of the warthogs flying over from military base and the pilots would tilt the plane and wave at us, Good memories :)

That just spurred a nice memory of my grandfather from one of those days too! :)

Hey LateStart. This is my first season hunting as well. I lucked into finding a couple of guys from work that have let me hunt their property and in their stands here in Tn. So far, no success, not even a sighting but the season is still young. I think coming into the sport this late in life has left me open to saddle hunting and not devoted to tree stands. I’ll be following this to see what kind of advice comes through as well. Good luck!

The air to ground range is about 3 miles from my house.
