New Hunting Beast Hang On

I see lots of poopooing. If someone were to say "I don't see the value in a platform machined out of a solid billet, because I weigh 140lbs, and I'm 5'7, and the old locon windwalker is plenty strong. That price is ridiculous for me." - that's an opinion. "600.00 - no way, I'm out." is just signaling whining poopooing.

If someone were to say "I don't see the value in a sub 10lb stand that's 16" wide and 30" deep, because I'm 6'4, 280lbs, but never walk farther than a quarter mile to hunt. The available 20" and 22" wide stands function well or better for me, and I understand that shaving 2-3lbs for me is easier done by just taking a crap in the morning before hunting." - That's an opinion. "no innovation here, way more money than the lwcg, I'm out." is just signaling whining and poopooing.

You are correct that it's a "niche" product. But every product is a niche product. Some fill bigger niches than others. What doesn't get talked about, is how a new design like this drives further innovation, and opens up possibilities even the designer hadn't considered or implemented. Supply creates demand on occasion.

I'll disagree with you on the lwcg offering a discount. I don't think it's got anything to do with sales being under what they projected. I think they saw the initial whining and poopooing, get turned around by actual use and happy customers. They noticed the trend, and decided to push the tide with the discount, knowing some competition is on the way. That of course, is an opinion.

A $650 price tag is going to be hard to ignore. Price is an aspect of gear that is important to many hunters. No matter how innovative a product is, if it’s not accessible it’s not helpful. Consigning consumer shock to poopooing and whining dismisses this.

Now, you can talk about this product‘s innovation, I’m not going to.

Competition was the x-factor I’d hoped this stand would offer. Maybe it will, maybe it has. We’ve already seen a discount from a chief competitor. Then again, they might just have been in the Christmas Spirit after getting their legs underneath them on last year’s products. I was hoping for more of a space race than a sale though. We‘ll see if, at such a grounbreaking cost, this new Beast stand can create the market pressure I’d hoped for.

As for the stand itself, it’s value will be determined once it hits the streets. Until then, it’s subject to examination and ridicule as is the norm on an open forum, if we can keep it civil.

I just don’t understand the complaints about the price, when it’s a consequence of the cost of a component(material and machine time). Makes sense to complain that the component isn’t useful, rather than complain about a consequence of the “innovation”.

of course the suppliers get this material much cheaper. But the point Is that his engineering and accessories costs are largely in line with what’s out there. What’s not is two things - a sheet of expensive metal, and a size/shape that no one else sells.

I support everyone’s right to whine about something they don’t like! I just like when the whining serves a better purpose, rather than just making the whiner feel better. I whine too. I just try to make it useful somehow when it’s in public.

We’re really complaining about $125 here. You’re willing to spend $500 on a stand but $625 is just way too much lol. You see how ridiculous that sounds.

I wouldnt complain if it had innovation. Lwcg was pricey but had features no stand ever had. From seat shelf to stick mating.

This stand is more expensive and provides no innovation. Designs and ideas all have been made before and in different and cheaper variations. So while I wish them the best of luck I don’t see 125$ worth of improvements over what already exists and a cheaper price point.
I agree it’s a free market and get what u can but what do it as a consumer get for my money?

I have never liked hang on stands, but if I was ever going to use one, this would be it. I have also never understood the continued use of inferior (simply search here or online for all the cracks and breaking as compared to other materials) cast aluminum hunting applications (LW, LWCG, Tethrd, Novix, Trophyline...). Dan deserves lots of credit for taking this further than others and as @kyler1945 pointed out already, it will lead to better products from others down the road. The price doesn’t matter, especially if it is the right tool for the job and I would love to see the $1,000+ model he referred to in prototyping available too.

I am only adding this here because it is a recurring theme on the entire site, not just this thread, but everything we do from a hunting aspect is discretionary spending, so the word budget and cheap has no place here in reality. If you truly can't afford to hunt, don't, it will not kill you. If buying a $200 option really makes that big of a difference vs $600, you really shouldn't be hunting and focus on better priorities in life first (search Dave Ramsey), then come back to hunting when it makes sense financially.

I don’t know. If I get a beast stand i might not have to worry about the burrs on my stand slicing my straps.

Where’s the other machined billet, anodized coated, 16x29 platform, that weighs sub 7lbs? I won’t list the other features, as you mentioned they’ve been around a minute.

Thought you said this stand was never coming to market. I am glad it did can't wait to try it out. I couldn't bring myself to buy another lwcg product. The tree brackets suck. Too steep of a angle. That was the problem with the ambush they designed the tree bracket for like a 4-6 in tree. Then changed the design 4 times on the fly. I will gladly pay 125 more for a stand that has actually been tested by multiple people and load tested. I will bet this stand has zero camming issues and will take load way better then the lwcg due to tree bracket design. Happy buying enkriss know you can't resist.
