A lot of people don't know about them, but Simmons broadheads just came out with a new COC. It's designed for compound shooters. It's called a Mako. 100 grain with .050 blade thickness. Incredibly tough.

Dave ... I have the same setup and was going to post a review, but as usual you are spot on. The only difference is mine is a 28.5 “ draw length and I’m using 100 gain on my maxim reds. Dead in your hand gets used a lot in archery, but this bow gives it a new meaning!!!!!! The Triax is accurate and quiet almost beyond belief. For what’s it worth I’m shooting the g5 montecs but I think there are a ton of great broad heads out there. Best of luck bud and enjoy!!!!!

The ones I have don't expand, they have a screw so the blades will pivot and the under side of the blade is razor also, so still get cutting effect when the broadhead backs out if you don't get a clean pass through... They are basically a fixed blade, they stay in the "fixed" position when you shoot... Just FYI for future reference.

OK thanks - I couldn't really tell what they had going on but that makes sense. They do get good reviews.

They had a booth at the Dixie Deer Classic a few years ago in Raleigh, just so happened I was in the market for a different broadhead and I was lucky to stumble across them and have been using them since. So far I haven't experienced anything not to like about them.

A lot of guys love ramcats but I think they are considered barbed in some states. Check your local game laws before buying.

The blades are not expandable but they do pivot forward and have cutting edges on both side of the blades just in case one would stay inside of a deer it would also cut on the way out . It's a great broadhead but so are the Slick Trick magnums 100 . Killed my two biggest Pope and Young bucks with them one buck traveled 12 yards and the other went 20 yards. Can't miss with either heads.

Congrats on the nice bow and ur new found key to longevity for bowhunting.

Slick tricks and blazer vanes are usually solid choices for arrow set up.

I use Montec G5's and absolutely love them. Single piece design, and solid as a rock. They aren't the flashiest, or most "in vogue", but they have served me well.

I used to shoot Montecs and I did like them. Field point accuracy, but was not impressed with the sharpness of blades out of package. Or the cutting diameter. I have been shooting rages for years but just ordered slick trick magnums to try this season.

I take a diamond sharpening stone to them and can make a pack of them DANGEROUSLY sharp by the end of sitting and watching a decent movie.

I have only not recovered one animal (so far) with my G5’s, and that was a pig whose blood trail crossed knee deep water for a good ways.

They do have a shortage of overall cutting diameter, so accurate shooting is a little more important than with some other fixed blades.

If I were to switch, I would probably move to a Magnus Stinger 4 blade. Essentially a bulletproof 2 blade with an extra small razor added perpendicularly.

I'm shooting grim reapers this year but I've shot the 4 blade stingers for the past 7 or 8. They are a great fixed blade head!

Same here, could shoot the Montecs 50yds but the cutting edges are more like using a chisel instead of a razor blade. Started shooting rages and recovered every deer I shot with them but hate having to always make sure the blades were still engaged. Switching to the grizz tricks this season after seeing the carnage from a four blade. I think @DaveT1963 Is gonna cost me some money lol.
