New Predator V - Any thoughts or experience?

Swap them see if it helps.

I tried that, but the washer (bushing) size is identical. The issue is that the ears that the post mount onto is bigger (taller) than the ones on the regular size. Therefore gives it room for play when going side to side. Very fixable issue with a bushing that fills up the gap between the post and the attachment ears.

Well I just got my XL in the mail today, and it’s going back. The regular V is absolutely rock solid, but not the XL. It’s got way to much flex from side to side. It’s almost like it’s missing a washer from the post to the platform to keep it from shifting. Or the washer on the XL isn’t as big as the one of the regular.

This is pics comparing the 2. First pic is regular V.

I have the regular and have seen the Grit model up close and hung with it a few times as well - both have much bigger and thicker washers on each side than what you have in your pic.

I'm a decent sized guy at 230# and wear a size 11 shoe, but have always gravitated toward the regular sized platforms. I've had a Hawk (regular size but a death trap), Cruzr Seeker, TL EDP and a Tethrd Predator. Every once in a while I might want a bit more real estate, but not enough to give up the regular size. The Cruzr Seeker was a tad bigger than regular size and I had trouble getting it to bite and a bit of flex. Myabe that's why I lean toward the regular size platforms.

I took both stands apart, and the washers are identical. It’s the ears on the XL platform that are taller. That’s where the sway is coming from.

Update: I just put it on another tree and it was prettt solid with a little flex side to side. I’d say acceptable flex for me. I’m 250. Nothing like it was before. I’ll give it a go in the morning and see what’s up.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your update and input. Today, I had the chance to drive to a store a couple of hours from home, and they had the Grit platform in stock. It was the only one they carried, so I wish they had more brand to see and try out. They had a handful of the regular version and just one XL model left, so I picked up the XL. Planning to test it out on Sunday afternoon and I'll share pictures soon!

Thanks again! I’m definitely the type who prefers to buy once and get it right, rather than ‘buy, cry, and keep buying’ until I’m happy, lol.

I know this post is wanting to know about the pro v, but I just wanted to add that I went from my predator to the hunt arsenal razor, what an awesome platform! Just over two lbs, packs flat. Has a built in clip and rides tight to saddle when climbing. I swapped the stiff ass rope out for an amsteel daisy chain. I love it. Oh and it has plenty of room on the top of the stand off to toe hook it.

Man this is a great post!! Thanks for jumping in.

I have seen reviews saying that the V struggles with side pressure and does not bit like the OG predator.

I have also seen that the Grit bites very well?

Any thoughts?

Thanks again!

The Grit is a China made predator.

Speaking of side pressure, I’ll have to post a video, I’ve not seen a platform handle side pressure as well as the razor. They did this one right. I can’t speak for the magnum but the reg size 2.0 is phenomenal

Eh… I thought the fix handled side pressure much better.

Again I have no experience with this or any predator. I have the EDP and it bites like an angry dog! But it’s bulky.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I have the regular Grit in my possession and I like it better than my V. The Grit handles side pressure better than my V I think. My V and this Grit are both regular size, I assume the XL bites similarly. I use the D.A.M. rope to connect my platform and the Grit is solid.

Back on this XL V this morning. I don’t know what the deal was when I initially put it on a tree, but it’s pretty dang solid. This is my first real hunt off of it. I’m keeping it. It’s exactly 1lb lighter than my Onyx with nearly the same foot room. Definitely need to toe cam it, but when you do it bites hard.

Just tried the V last night for first time. No complaints at all Found it to be comfortable and locked tight / very stable.

Tried out the grit on wet trees, and I’m really liking it so far! Just wish it had a clip like the Predator V for easier attachment to my saddle or backpack, but no big deal... I’ll just rig up my own. Not complaining cuz I needed a platform asasp and maybe next season I'll try another kind.

Rifle season kicks off Saturday, and I’m pumped for my first saddle hunt. Good luck to everyone out there for rifle and muzzleloader season!

Liking it so far, rock solid on the tree and like the clip on it for going up the tree...

I have the xl and no complaints from me. Had to tighten the bolt up but other than that it’s been great. That little angle on the front gives great foot relief imo
