New Saddle Hunter platform info

I just started saddle hunting and haven't purchased a platform yet. I'm getting an early start to next season. I plan on building my own climbing sticks with aiders based in DIy Sportsman's build with a few on my own modifications. Sticks are easy to plan for since I've used hang ons before. My question is about platforms. Is it better to build my own or just buy one? If it's better to buy one, how do I know which one to go with if I can't try them all out first?

I suggest buying the Ridge Runner or Predator if you can afford them. I’m very happy with my Predator as a new saddle hunter, but see lots of good reviews on the Ridge Runner.

All of the platforms that are sold for saddle hunting are tailored to saddle hunting. They are all pretty good quality compared to the lock on stands sold at big box stores. When you choose what platform to use consider packing it in and out and weight if that is an issue. I have used a ring of steps since I started saddle hunting about 12 years ago. I recently bought an out on a limb platform and the quality is great, but now I have one more large piece of gear that I have to figure out how to attach to my pack. Unfortunately unless you can find someone near you with several platforms, it is hard to compare them all without being at saddlepalooza.

Truth be told there is no right answer. Best thing to do is figure out what you think you would like, be wrong and buy a second. I’ve never found anything in hunting that I only bought one of.
Reminds me of the worst sex I ever had................................................It was awesome!

The ridge runner is 15% off might as well jump on that while you can.

I own the RR and love it. Built like a tank. Weight isn’t bad and straps to a pack no problem. Extremely solid on the tree and nice foot room. Rhino coating is super aggressive and won’t let you slip on what so ever.
