Hey, from NY! New to saddle hunting this year. Just ordered my Phantom from Tethrd. This all started bc I lost my spot a few months ago and to be honest I’m glad! I’ve always wanted to do some public land hunting! So this will be my first season attempting it! Was the perfect excuse! So any tips are welcome! Only thing left for me to grab are climbing sticks! Always up for recommendations!

Welcome to the site. Good luck on your first year hunting public. I watch a lot of deer on privat but do most of my killing on public.

Welcome from Maine! Prepare yourself for the new obsession. I have been at it for a while like most of these guys. My suggestion is a Muddy Pro 1 stick with a webbed aider (If you can get your hands on a Muddy Pro).

I have tried Lone Wolfs, Hawk Heliums, and the Muddy Pros. Nothing could compare to one sticking with a Muddy Pro. The weight/bulk savings is a great feeling and it has been, in my opinion, the best way to make a climb!

what part of Maine? I have family in Bethel - Sunday River area. One stick and webbed aided? That’s it? How high up can you get? These are the things I need some guidance on! All these years I’ve hunted out of a stand. I’m so looking forward to changing the game up this year!

Welcome from Maryland! Just setup on fresh sign & see how it goes. If you can find some spots on public that are inconvenient to get to it helps avoid pressure. Find areas where terrain features & habitat changes intersect.

My setup I can literally climb as high as I want, where I want, when I want. It's great!

As far as location I'm in Waterboro. I use to go to Bethel every year for the Trapper's Weekend at Neil Olsen's on East Bethel Rd, good time! I'm very familiar with that area. ****'s Diner in Mexico has a damn good breakfast! I usually stay in the Blue Iris Motel over before Rumford when I'm up there right on the Andro, or rent a lake house just north of there!
